    Hi!

The 1st of June is around the corner. Sophos message on the current official Sandboxie site says that they will close the official forums and the licensing server on the 1st of June. I hope Sandboxie site soon gets a new home with all the contents, info etc. (or will that be just the GitHub?) and a new official forum would be nice, just like it was years ago.

Hope I'm not hoping for too much, even if I am, I am very grateful that Sandboxie will live on. :)

Feel free to archive the site on Archive.org if you really want, instead of expecting others to do it for you. SB doesn't really need anything other then a GitHub landing page for releases anyway.

I'm not expecting anything, I'm hoping, not only for the archive of all that's on the website so far but for adding of info on the new features, tricks etc. On the website or on the forums. It's a wish. :)

News. Sandboxie Version 6 is signed and ready. At this time Tom is in the process of submitting the drivers to Microsoft. Based on what he told me, I can tell you that doing that is not as easy as it sounds, he is getting the run around by MS. Unbelievable, MS red tape I guess. They make the process difficult. After he gets through to them, in his words, "the party starts". :)

Thanks bo for offering us valuable information. Hopefully we will soon be able to see this new version and the following developments cleared the digital signature hurdle.

I don't think it's possible. However, if you double-click the process and go to the Security page, it should show the correct information in the group list. If this list contains Mandatory Label\Untrusted Mandatory Level, then Sandboxie works as expected. Restarting Process Explorer should help as well.

In regards to "The operation was blocked by parental controls. (346)", it is a windows issue and not a Sandboxie issue

Bo, I greatly appreciate the effort you put into your reply post. Outstanding effort and it kept me going back to resolve it.
I wanted to clarify that my Windows 10 system runs Sandboxie fine, including creating sandboxes. (That was an error in words on my part). The issue has been that I cannot "Install" software into a sandbox for the purposes of testing or system cleanliness. Windows 10 Parental controls pops up with that error. Based on your post, I further tested running programs inside any of my newly created Sandboxie sandboxes, and they would run just fine inside any sandboxes, no limitations.
It turns out the issue with installing applications inside a sandbox is a Windows 10 issue: Parental controls. I did have to uninstall my kids accounts and remove members of my family from Microsoft Family as well.
After what feels like months of chasing this issue down, I have found the ultimate solution:
    - Open Task Manager / Services tab.
    - Find WpcMonSvc and stop it.
    - Find WpcMonSvc and right click / Open Services.
    - In the new services window, find Parental Controls. right click / Properties and select Disabled for Startup type.
    Problem... SOLVED.

Good news indeed. Having problems lately with Sandboxie 5.33.6. It takes 12-13 seconds for Microsoft Edge Chromium 83.0.478.45 (stable) to open sandboxed. Reinstalling Sandboxie does not solve the problem.

It's good news that things are progressing, but not for you. The new version won't have any changes and the problem with Edge you are having is not common among all of us, the problem is specific to your setup, Edge loads lightning quick for me in SBie.

I don't know if it can comfort you - but that's the time it takes for me too to open Firefox and also Chrome within Sandboxie (still version 5.33.3.). I got accustomed to it. ;)

    Edge 83.x sandbox opens google.com ~ 1 second.
    Chrome 83.x sandbox opens google.com ~ 2 seconds.
    Firefox 77.x sandbox opens google.com ~ 4 seconds.
    - as always, your mileage may vary

    Vivaldi/Windows 2004--2 or 3 seconds.
Edge (if I choose to run it in SBIE)--1-2 seconds

It was slow almost like that 12 sec. for me in Insiders Build 19xxx running Opera, leading me to fear it would be like that in release 2004. But things got ironed out in the transition. Build 5.33.6 which they will have to pry out of my ice-cold, knotted hands.:)

For me, Edge takes about 5 seconds to show up after clicking to open it, and about 2 more seconds to be fully open, and ready, so total is about 7 seconds. Perhaps 12/13 seconds is more than normal but in my opinion, the delay is no reason to reinstall SBIE. Also, you have extra security programs that scan when youu open and close Edge sandboxed, I don't have any. The scanning delays the closing of Edge/sandboxed programs and deleting contents for sure, and probably opening the browser does as well.

Thank you all for the info. Did some testing yesterday but it still takes 12-13 seconds to open Edge xx.45 sandboxed. Unsandboxed Edge opens in 1-2 seconds. I use Firefox as my main browser anyway (5 seconds to open sandboxed).

    Hi all,

Sandboxie allows certain browsers to directly access the bookmarks and setting preferences while sandboxed. So if I add new bookmarks in a sandboxed session, it will appear in a non-sandboxed session.

However, I noticed this control is only available the popular browsers listed in the program (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, IE) and some obscure, less popular browsers like Comodo Dragon, Seamonkey, and Vivaldi.

The controls do not extend to other browsers not listed, like Brave (which is gaining traction). I realized this when I saved some bookmarks in a Brave sandboxed session (via Forced Programs), deleted my sandbox, and realized it was gone permanently.

As a feature request -- would it be possible to have Sandboxie detect non-Chrome, but Chromium based browsers (or even browsers not listed in program) and enable them to directly access resources like bookmarks?

You just need to allow Direct file access to the file or files where Brave stores bookmarks. I never installed Chrome or Brave but in Edge Chromium the files below are the ones you need to allow access to in order to save bookmarks out of the sandbox. Use them as a guide to locate the ones needed for Brave, they should be almost identical.

    %Local AppData%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Bookmarks
    %Local AppData%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Favicon
