    The available version depends on the browser you're using.

    Curious, for Edge - uBlock Origin from Chrome (Web Store) or Edge (Microsoft Edge Addons)? & Why?
    Or, no difference.
    I'm not seeing a difference.
    Thanks

    Guys, I have a question. I'm having big troubles with Instagram, pages won't load correctly, is it possible that uBlock somehow plays a role, even if it's disabled? I have this problem on Vivaldi and I haven't tested other browsers yet. It started about a week ago, upgrading to Vivaldi v3 didn't help. I also didn't upgrade to uBlock v1.27 yet.

    You must be kidding. How can uBO be the culprit if it's disabled? It could be the built-in adblocker in Vivaldi, though.

    Yes I know it's a long shot, but this is one of those mind boggling problems. I could swear it happens even after disabling all extensions, but I have a feeling it might somehow be caused by the "I don't care about cookies" extension. What happens is that sites do load but within a second they quickly reload and you get to see a blank screen.

    BTW, the ad+tracking blocker is disabled by default on Vivaldi. Another option is that Instagram changed something on their website causing Vivaldi to malfunction. Or perhaps the Vivaldi+Sandboxie combo plays a role, but Sandboxie shouldn't interfere with website loading normally speaking.

    Having gone largely unnoticed, a uBlock Origin release v1.27.4 extension was also made for Mozilla Thunderbird.

    Reference: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases/tag/1.27.4 -> Assets.

    I have experimentally added it to my MUA v68.8.0 for the very first time. The .xpi compressed archive installed in an unremarkably fashion. This extension might fall under the Mozilla "Legacy" classification.

    Yes, but it doesn't block anything in mails (contrary to the pre-webextension era). I found that it only works for RSS feeds. This is not dramatic as access to remote content is blocked by default in Thunderbird for mails (you can selectively allow access to specific remote content in each mail), and javascript is completely forbidden (even in HTML mails) and cannot be enabled even manually (only for RSS feeds). Nevertheless it would have been nice if uBO worked also in mails in those cases where you allow remote content.

    The German site https://www.privacy-handbuch.de offers a list for uBO which blocks third-party access to local addresses, to resources in local networks, to Link Local and Unique Local addresses assigned by Zeroconf, Apple Bonjour etc. in local networks and to the IP range reserved for Carrier Grade NAT.

    Furthermore it blocks 3rd-party access to the following routers:
    Code:
    ||fritz.box^$important,third-party
    ||*.fritz.box^$important,third-party
    ||speedport.ip^$important,third-party
    ||easy.box^$important,third-party
    ||giga.cube^$important,third-party
    If you're using another router you should add a corresponding rule to My Filters. In order to avoid any problems when opening the router configuration you should add something like http://fritz.box, http://speedport.ip etc. to the Whitelist pane in uBO.

    The rationale for this list is that javascript used by attackers or trackers could be used to scan local addresses or services for fingerprinting or attacking services in the LAN. There have been, e.g., attacks on 50 router models in the past.

    The list is available here.

    @gorhill : Wouldn't it make sense to add this list to uBO?

    I tried importing the suggested lan-block filter and it keeps showing "a network error prevented the resource from being updated" after purging the caches and selecting update now. My network connection is okay since I can access the lan-block.txt via my browser. Did I forget to do something else?

    I had the same problem. You can add the filter from his GitHub page: https://github.com/gwarser/filter-lists The subscribe option is at the bottom of that page.

    That works fine. I guess it needs the raw version to work. I noticed a difference in cut-paste between the link I used and the raw version that there was a ? preceding [ublock] which does not show in the raw cut/paste. Thanks ...
