please download the official PrivaZer v4 release.
You will have a better display of the scan result of $Logfile.
In fact, you had many entries like 0000000000000000000879.0x0 that are empty files used by PrivaZer to clean your storage. So we removed them.

Concerning the free space on your Veracrypt drive, we have investigated and have no definitive conclusion yet.
There is a difference between the space used by Veracrypt and the free space you can see in Windows Explorer.
Can you send us to our email a screenshot of the properties of your drive in Windows Explorer + the properties of your drive in Veracrypt ?

Congrats on releasing v4. Is it ok to install v4 on top of v3 or should I do clean installation?

I installed straight over the top and my settings were preserved.

 

Quick question: is the ability to proceed to update from browser via the user interface a feature of the donors' version only? Never tried the free version, bizarrely.

Yes, very nice job! I like the reminder mid-scan to close your browser for best cleaning.

No, the free version would check for updates and offer to open the browser, but it looks like 4.x.x has a different method.

• concerning the automatic downloads of updates :
  
  - in the free version, no change. You download it manually. PrivaZer opens your web browser to the right page.
  
  - in the Donors version : it's new : no need to go on our website, PrivaZer will do the download for you.
  Once completed, just click on the "install" button in PrivaZer and the update will be installed silently for you.
  
  
  
• If some of you can't afford to donate for the Donors Version, we can offer you the license for free to thank you for your precious contribution.

Hi, I am searching for a software to remove deleted entries from MFT. I tested many apps but no one is able to remove the entries. I checked with Recuva and the same files are available to recover. Some files from years ago.

I saw some posts about cleaning MFT / USN entries and after tested PrivaZer , I still unable to fully remove the entries, with recuva still showing the same number of files able to be recovered.

Am I doing something wrong ?

Hello,
If you use the "Deep scan" of Recuva, it will scan your entire drive, this means that it will try to recover all your files, even the ones that still exist. So that, files that you still have on your drive, that you can see in Windows Explorer, are listed in Recuva as recoverable.

So, first of all, check the paths of files listed in Recuva and check if the files are still present at the given path.

Secondly, you can send us a screenshot of Recuva at support@privazer.com for further investigations.

First, let me apologize for my mistake. After I looked at Recuva settings, the option "Scan for non-deleted files" was enabled and without it, Recuva only shows many entries like "0000..0010.0x0 unrecoverable ". By the way, there is no issue with Deep scan enabled.

So, the program PrivaZer is working correctly. Maybe the others programs I tested was working too..

Be advised that the improved cleanup of Chrome includes emptying the JavaScript code cache that Google treats as a bottomless pit. I fired up the new version on my wife's laptop and three hours later it is still deleting accumulated cruft. 110,000 files and counting.
