Not just that, the lines between opinion and misinformation are blurred. But then, this is history repeating itself - uneducated masses that slurp the media like religious spiel, topped with the unwarranted hysteria and hyping. Choose whichever big controversial topic you like, and it fits the pattern.

Also, this from mood's last post: "But it can be difficult for the average person to evaluate that information, says Erjavec Parker, and platforms should play a role."

Well if the "average" person is allowed to use social media, then the information there is for all to see and interpret. Don't wont idiots confused? Screen the idiots, not the information, simple.

The censorship continues. At least there are some streaming platforms without censorship.

Beware of anyone labeling you as a "conspiracy-theorist" one of the most semantically nonsensical and stupid catch phrases ever to assault our ears.

How telling that people would even think to listen to the likes of any evil empire such as M$, FB, Google, Apple, twitter etc to tell us what constitutes misinformation. What a joke and what hypocrisy.

@roger_m The censorship continues, I agree. Moreover, this type of censorship sets a very dangerous precedent.

Good grief, what a bunch of nonsensical rants. YouTube, Facebook, et alia, are commercial enterprises, not "freedom of speech" public platforms. For that matter, Wilders Forums also restricts certain types of posts (a VS b, politics, etc.) -- rightfully so.

"Evil empire" -- what a pathetically childish bit of name calling.

Of course they are free to do whatever they choose. I'm not suggesting otherwise.

Google, Facebook, YouTube and other platforms are increasingly censoring content, so that only one side of certain arguments is allowed, rather than allowing for people to see both sides. I think that's a terrible thing to do.

News media often seek to influence rather than inform. Politicians often yield to the tyranny of the majority rather than doing what is moral & right. Businesses are out to make money, not do good. If something looks too good to be true, it usually is.

Life isn't fair. Should be. Isn't.

    Not quite.

The problem isn't private companies doing whatever they like. The problem is WHY they're doing it. To say this is to "protect" idiots, then you start a precedent. Because if the average person cannot be trusted with "medical" advice, why should they be entrusted with anything for that matter - driving cars, guns, voting. And that's a slippery slope when a minority of intellectuals starts modelling humanity based on some utopian view of "better" good.

Moreover, this is about expression of opinion. Why should someone be allowed to speak against X (choose your favorite controversial topic - corona, climate, whatever). Why should only one type of opinion be allowed? Critical thinking is part of what makes humanity better. If you don't question the information or the authority, you're just a borg. And borgs do what they are told.

And the difference is: Wilders restricts certain types of post - they don't differentiate based on "good" or "bad". Talking about politics is a good one. It's ANY politics. Here, you have one-sided censorship. If you want to ban all corona posts, fine. You ban only what "someone" decides is bad - that's censorship.

Tomorrow, you could ban any social media posts that mentions the word blue. Or favors spaghetti flying monsters. Or speaks against ice bergs. Get the drift?
