I am running Win /64. Sandboxie v. 3.30 without issue. As long as I am on Win 7 is there any real need for me to jump to 5.33.6?

    TIA

I think you meant version 5.30. In your case, it is worth it moving from 5.30 to 5.33.6 because with 5.33.6, you ll be able to use the features (Forced programs/Forced folders) that used to be unlocked in the paid version, and not available in the free version. To get this features, you have to move on from 5.30 (version from April 2019).

If you are using the paid version with 5.30, the 180 days of activation that the SBIE servers gave your license is about to expire if the period hasn't expired yet. The SBIE servers are going down, if they are not already down. So, you wont be able reactivate old licenses. They are dead now. To get the features back, you have to update. If you are using the free version with 5.30, you ll gain by being able to use the features once you update to 5.33.6. This features are what make Sandboxie automatic.By using them, you ll sandbox programs and files automatically without thinking about it.

Jezz, your right Bo. I meant 5.30. I have the paid version and use Forced programs/folders daily. Not sure how that happened. Been using paid version for years. Thanks for getting back.

You are welcome, you using the paid version, makes it even more important that you upgrade. Otherwise, the features will get locked and you ll end up with what was the free version (No Forced programs/folders).

That makes me all set, then. 5.33.6 (64-bit) installed just now. Bo, your on-going presence and input on this thread is a relief to many. Thank you, my friend. :thumb:

Hey Bo, I can't think of anyone better then you to do this, but why not make another thread with some useful info in the OP like links to the archived forum, Sophos community, the new GitHub page, etc., etc.. This thread is huge but also the title "Sandboxie Acquired by Invincea" isn't relevant anymore, should be something like "Sandboxie Megathread - Now Open Sourced", or whatever....

Sounds good. Tom has to start a new company to associate the cert to. When I know the name of the company, I ll start the thread. That way we can have the name in the new thread.

Ha! I feel your frustration, but there is a way! If you prefer to use the Sophos site (I prefer that myself), when you encounter the compliance page that asks you to fill out the form, unless you follow the directions from the Sandboxie download page, you will end up in a perpetual loop. Home users should do as follows:
    • All users fill out the First and Last name and your valid E-mail address.
    • For home users, select "Home User/Student Facility" as the Job Role, then "N/A" for Company and "Other" Industry.
Note: the actual instructions say to use "N/A" for Industry, and you can try to do that, but it won't work. You have to use "Other" for Industry.

    Good luck!

I found that any name and email address will do (e.g.10minute mail )

Yes, any name and email address will do, you are right. The request for name and valid email address should have a big  next to it.

Sophos is just complying with US Export Control Regulations, which is indeed .

As an IBMer, and working for them in a foreign ******* country, I had to recertify every year.

(I do wonder why other companies don't though - comply, that is).

For what purpose? They aren't stopping anyone. I'm just playing master of the obvious here. Not arguing with you personally, I get your point.

No, sure. I expect if you select Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan or Syria as your country, it will display a message. :argh:
