    I'm happy things are moving forward for Sandboxie. Patiently waiting for more info on what Bo hinted at. :)

    I also wondered about this, can anyone now make a Sandboxie version? I assume they will need to choose a new name then?

    Let me have another guess, Tzuk will make a comeback LOL. But I do hope that multiple developers will work on the new Sandboxie, that will give it a better chance to survive. But do you perhaps know if these developers can make it payware once again?

    More speculation. o_O:rolleyes::isay:

    Budget allocated by Thoma Bravo / Sophos ... with current developers?

    But that doesn't explain releasing source as open source.

    Someone on VirusTotal left comments about all of the files of the latest sandboxie by @DavidXanatos

    And while I have your attention, the 64 bit version of the Tor Browser fails to load one of its DLL's while inside sandboxie and doesn't work as a result of that.

    It's just some comments on each virus total page for the different files of the new sandboxie confirming that it is indeed the files of the open source version of sandboxie

    Hello fellow Sandboxie enthusiasts. I think it's about time I introduce myself to this forum. I am Tom, one of the principal kernel developers that worked on Sandboxie for Invincea and Sophos for about 5 years. My main focus was to support windows 10 and various modernization enhancements like the 64 bit re-architecture (back in version 4.x a few years ago) among many others. Yes, I'm the guy that introduced Sandboxie to windows 10 and 64 bit chrome. And I supported all the fast ring versions up to the previous one or two. Curt took over that job when I left Sophos about 9 months ago.

    I'm here to say that Sandboxie is not going away anytime soon. I can at least volunteer my efforts to support the windows 10 fast ring for the future versions of windows and other “hard issues” with various browsers. I plan to post fixes here: https://github.com/sandboxie/sandboxie. And hopefully, with the help of others we can keep Sandboxie alive and well for years to come.

    Hello Tom!
    Great to see there are reinforcements!

    I have sent you a pull request with the fix for the MSIserver not starting on windows 1903+
    also note that the encoding of SboxHostDll.rc in your repo is broken.

    May be you have an idea about the next issue I'm looking into. The MSIserver is supposed to start child instances of msiexec.exe with the "-Embedding <GUID>" parameter to run custom actions, since and including windows 1809 this fails. I haven't yet found out why. I haven't noticed any suspicious denied access or other obvious red flags.

    I couldn't be happier to see that you're going to help keep this great program alive. I wish you could all join in one fork. Thank you for supporting Sandboxie.

    Welcome aboard Tom, that's excellent to hear! I think we can all agree that Sandboxie is an amazing product and "idea" that should never go away, it's so essential to most of us who've been using it for years, and hopeful this means many more years to come too.

    @DavidXanatos
    Why did you game your GitHub repo (yet again) to "sandboxie-dev /Sandboxie", makes you sound like an official OG dev like Tom, which you aren't...

    because sandboxie/ was already taken :argh: and I had the idea to just add -dev from the /dokan-dev/dokany naming scheme.

    And people liked that for that: https://github.com/sandboxie-dev/Sandboxie/issues/2

    Indeed in hindsight the optics isn't great but at that time the "sandboxie/Sandboxie" did not exist yet. :confused:
    I'm not clairvoyant, yet, so I thought better me then some other random guy using these names, at least I'm very passionate about the project and somewhat qualified. :isay:

    As someone currently running Insider build 19603.1000 and experiencing poor performance with Opera in Sandboxie 5.33.6 and later, this is music to my ears. Very glad! :)

    @DavidXanatos you must be a saint to tolerate this tone when you're asked a question.

    I'm definitely not a saint, just on the spectrum with next to no social skills.

    What would have been the appropriate response? I just answered factually correct what my thought process was at that time. If that was a mistake I'm very sorry.

    Have been running Sandboxie for many years and want to continue to do so.

    The last few months running Chrome in Windows 10 I've been having problems. It appeared to be caused by a Windows update about 6 months ago. Not sure of the windows version that started the problem. I'm now using Sandboxie Version 5.33.6 but still have a problem.

    Chrome now works OK on most websites but trying to log into Hotmail or eBay instantly locks up the browser.

    My wife and I both get the following error messages soon after opening Chrome.

    SBIE2303 Could not hook CoGetObject (33, 1655)
    SBIE2303 Could not hook RegisterDragDrop (33, 1655)
    SBIE2318 DLL initialization failed for 'ole32.dll'

    Any ideas?

    That is this issue: https://community.sophos.com/produc...19644/issue-chrome-is-blocking-code-injection

    the thread there suggests a solution:
    I haven't tested it yet though.
