FWIW, today I heard some news about Sandboxie that got me all excited and happy. I couldn't believe what I was reading because in my opinion, what I was told is about as good as we can expect for the future of Sandboxie when it becomes open source. I don't believe I should go into details but if this comes thru, Sandboxie is gonna have a bright future. :):):):):)

Yes, please spill the beans! Let me guess, a couple of Invincea guys are planning to start their own Sandboxie company. :D

I don't see this happening since they have already developed a product. They would have to dump it completely. Would be interesting to see if multiple Sandboxie versions will be developed, so called forks.

Well, this gift is great, I can definitely make use of this!

I feel like a dog who's like nosing around the food dish for extra crumbs. Is this the big happy surprise or was it something else? lol?

I was thinking that perhaps the original developer of sandboxie was thinking of returning to help develop a fork of the open sourced sandboxie.

Hi Acadia, I wasn't asked not to say anything. I just have the feeling that the chances are greater for what I was told to happen, if for now, not much is said about it.

I just wanted give you guys some hope. What I was told, excites me. It gives, in my personal view, a clear and solid future, the horizon for Sandboxie looks coherent and bright. Lets hope it happens, my friend. :)

I have uploaded the sources to GitHub: https://github.com/DavidXanatos/Sandboxie
and fixed an issue that prevented the sources from correctly building (encoding on SbieControl.rc was messed up).

    Cheers
    David X.

    bo,
Maybe you should inaugurate a new thread on "Open Source Sandboxie"
    You certainly deserve the honour!

Good deal. I am no developer but I know you have been after Sophos
to push for the release of the open source code.
Now, I can at least dream of a sandboxie version that works on Windows XP!!

Definitely doable, reviewing change-log from 5.22 (last XP version) and 5.24 at https://www.sandboxie.com/VersionChanges.php it does not seam much has changed except the move to VS2015, so possibly it wont be to much work.

Just the thought that it may be do-able is great news.
So, there is hope. You made my day! Thank you @DavidXanatos
