China, Huawei propose internet protocol with a built-in killswitch
New IP sounds good in some ways, but might help authoritarian crackdowns

That's one of the dumbest ideas that I've ever seen.

I hope and believe it will be rejected by IETF, but maybe China just wants to adopt it inside China.

I guess. I wonder about compatibility. But whatever.

It's open secret that China governments seriously considers disconnecting country from the wider Internet and create some sort of nation-state network instead.

And not only China, comrade Putin is slowly but steadily building his own national network too.

It's strange...what do these communist (although China is as far away from real Communism as it's from real democracy) and
ex-communist (ditto for Russia, capitalism was just a tool for them...) nations are afraid of?

Their own citizens? Or that their "dreamland" is corrupted by western barbarians ?
That the so called "Socialism with Chinese Characteristics" is sullied somehow by giving their citizen free
    access to Internet?

    Anyway...

I have to confess that I did give Huawei a very small benefit of doubt.
But after this disgusting proposal of the so called "New IP" (worldview must be fundamentally screwed if you
need kill-switch and ability to authorize humans at protocol-level) it's clear that it's nothing more
    than corporate mouthpiece for party.

I will never buy Huawei, Vivo or Oppo phone.

Huawei's proposal to replace TCP/IP is going nowhere fast
China's vision for a faster, more reliable Internet isn't convincing standards bodies
