Unable to install it on my work laptop, go figure.

    2020-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4551762) - Error 0x80073701

I have tried all of my usual tricks to no avail.

Have you tried this website, it could be a corrupt system file. Sorry I forgot to quote the link:

Have you tried running this cmd as admin?

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

It attempts, among other things, to fix corruption in Win Updates (so you need to be online when you run it)

I have Office 365 on 2 PCs, one on the monthly channel for Office Insider and one on the Fast updates. This morning neither one will allow me to send email. The "From" box is empty and clicking the "From" button shows no accounts. They both receive email. I'm assuming they broke it with the last round of updates. Quality control is non existent.

---Update: It actually will send from the account of the inbox you are in. It just shows nothing in the from and you can't change the selection.

The only problem I'm having is when I put my computer to sleep, it wakes up on it's own. It was working fine until the update I received Tuesday. Since then, it refuses to stay sleeping!

In command prompt as admin enter the below to get a list of what things are allowed to wake your PC.

    powercfg /waketimers

I noticed battery drain after the latest update.I rolled back the Intel Management Interface driver.Seems to happen when I shut down at night. In the morning it loses about 5%.I need to test to see if I fixed it or not.It just may be the battery itself.

For a couple of days I get "Error encountered" when trying to run Windows Update ("We couldn't connect to the update service. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're connected to the Internet.").

    How can I investigate/fix this?

(Virus scanners did not report anything)

Have you tried a System File Check (as admin)?
Also a full restart of your machine?
Do you know which update is causing the problem, or does it not go far enough in the update to give you the info?

These commands all report no issues:
    • sfc /scannow
    • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    What else can I try?

EDIT: Event Viewer lists a lot of these:

Windows Update failed to check for updates with error 0x80240438.

Have you made any Win 10 settings changes using a 3rd party tool?
    Tried changing your DNS server?
As an 'out there' attempt you could create a new user (as admin) and see if the updates work then.

    • Yes, I have run O&O ShutUp10
    • I tried a VPN to have a different DNS server; same issue
    • Same issue with newly created user
    a) KB4541338 is already installed
    b) Saw that page before, but I don't think I tried every step yet.
