It's up to the user whether or not to tolerate Google warnings. There are other browser options available.

For the last two months, the Microsoft Edge Addons Store grew from 160 to over 1200 extensions. This could be a small number when compared with thousands of extensions available on Chrome Web Store but rest assured Microsoft will add more extensions to its new Addons store in the coming months. The Addons site in beta currently offers some of the popular Chrome and Firefox Store extensions, here they’re.

Since the Chromium Edge browser is new and addons store is recent and there aren’t any user reviews available makes it difficult for the users to how trustworthy an extension is.

As Edge becomes a more mature browser the Edge add-ons store will become more complete. Eventually Chrome store won't be necessary for Edge users anymore.

Microsoft has started rolling out the stable version of its new Chromium-based Edge browser to all of the company’s 151,000 employees. As noted in a post on Microsoft IT Showcase, Microsoft used more than 100,000 of its own employees’ experiences using pre-release versions of the Edge browser as a source of feedback. By using its own browser in-house, Microsoft has been able to see if its new Edge browser was ready to handle the needs of enterprise customers.

Steve Rugh, a principal program manager lead in the Microsoft Edge product group, says there is a lot for enterprise-level IT admins to like in the new version of Edge. Microsoft’s decision to build Edge using the Chromium open-source project means more websites are compatible with the new browser:

"Rather than find yet another way to fracture the web with yet another browser, we decided to build on and improve upon the Chromium open-source project that most people and developers are using. Now it’s easier to use our browser. [...]"

The new Microsoft Edge is based on Chromium and the browser comes with a lot of goodies, including support for all Chrome extensions and features. Microsoft is planning to add support for all Chrome themes, which is something that totally makes sense as both browsers share the same source code.

Chrome Web Store will also users to download and install themes published by Google and independent developments. In Edge Canary builds, you can now install Chrome themes in Edge and you can do the whole thing without hacking the browser.
First and foremost, you’ll need Microsoft Edge Canary on your Windows PC. Next, you need to enable the experimental feature in the flags menu by following these steps: [...]

It’s unclear when Microsoft will add support for Chrome themes in Edge stable version, but it could be implemented by summer.

On my Logitech mouse I can centre click (scroll wheel) to open bookmars and links in new tabs.

Yeah, my no-name wired mouse scroll wheel doesn't have middle click action. IDK

This can already be done, but you have to jump through some hoops:

So Google are now outright blocking installation of some Chrome Web Store apps to ChromiumEdge. This is only happening on Edge Canary. I had no problem with the Stable channel. Went to install uBO and either no install option or a button saying available on Chrome. I got around it by installing uBO from the Edge Addon Store which isn’t UpToDate and then (I guess thanks to uBO) Chrome Web Store would let me install the UpToDate version. Wondering if it will automatic update when a new release comes out. Haven’t seen it reported in any media yet.

Chrome Web Store stops displaying the annoying secure extensions warning in Microsoft Edge

Despite the fact that both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge use Chromium as the source code and the fact that Edge supports Chrome extensions, on visiting the Chrome Web Store, Edge users were warned about the potential security risks of using Chrome extension on Edge. Many argued that it’s another trick by Google to discourage users from using Edge.

Whatever the case may be, Google Chrome Web Store no longer shows the secure extensions warning message. Currently, if you open Chrome Web Store in Edge, you’ll now be displayed a message that says, “You can now add extensions from the Chrome Web Store to Microsoft Edge — click on ‘Add to Chrome’.” However, it’s noteworthy that you won’t be able to use Edge extensions on Google Chrome browser.

Actually they can't do whatever they want, I'm sure you have already heard that Google, Facebook and Amazon are under investigation. So to answer your question, it should be done by the government. Google shouldn't be able to manipulate users, and to sabotage other companies.

Microsoft pauses Edge releases, following Chrome’s lead

Earlier this week, Google announced that it would be pausing new releases for Chrome and Chrome OS, citing the adjusted schedules of the Chrome team during the coronavirus outbreak.

That shouldn’t come as much of a shocker given that Edge is now based on Chromium. On Twitter today, Microsoft said that it will “pause updating the stable channel to Edge 81, consistent with Chromium Project.” That mirrors Google’s decision to keep Chrome 81 in beta for the time being, rather than promoting it to stable.

Like Google, the Edge team will continue pushing security and stability updates to Edge 80. We don’t know what kind of timeline the Edge team has worked out for those updates, but the group says that it will have more to share on that front next week.
We’ll see what happens from here, but for now, don’t expect to see Edge 81 get promoted to the stable channel anytime soon.

Microsoft has two versions of Microsoft Edge, and that can cause confusion when it comes to names.

Most people have referred to the Chromium version of Edge as "the new Microsoft Edge" and specified if instead referring to the older version of Edge. Now, a support document from Microsoft refers to the EdgeHTML-based version of Microsoft Edge as "Microsoft Edge Legacy." The newer Chromium-based Microsoft Edge is just that, "Microsoft Edge."
The clarification will make things easier as Microsoft Edge Legacy becomes older and less used. This change will be particularly useful for enterprise and IT where precise wording is needed to solve administrative issues or file support tickets.
