I wondered that myself so i asked them. There exists a contact possibilty on there site.
    They answered;

    Hi

Yes, WAU Manager downloads and installs Windows defender updates except if it is configured for Driver updates only.

    Best wishes,

    Fred

Sounds fantastic and thanks again. Was nor going to upgrade to windows 10 but found the interface with dark theme amd large fonts much better for my poor eyesight.

    Change of information.
It turns out that the developer misunderstood my question. The program does not seperately update W.defender. All or nothing is the case. That is for sure now after a lenghty conversation about it with him after me realizing that it did not.

What a pity, i liked it too.

I would have thought this soft would have more users?

    Any issues, or downsides?

It seems to be very interesting, especially for someone like me who wants to be in full control of Win Update, but I still need to test it. The thing that bugs me is that just like many other apps, the GUI looks blurry on a 1920x1080 resolution and modifying DPI settings doesn't help. I get this feeling that most apps are designed for a standard 1280x1024 resolution. Weird that M$ didn't address this problem in Win 10, or perhaps it's something that needs to be fixed by the app developers themselves?

It shouldn't matter what the resolution is. If you're using the maximum resolution your monitor supports, you shouldn't have blurry apps. My 14-year-old Toshiba Qosmio G30 laptop has a 1920x1080 resolution, and I don't have any such issues with Windows 10 (or 7, Vista and XP). It's worth noting that there is no standard resolution. For example, the laptop I'm using now and two other laptops I'm working on, have a resolution of 1366x768, and the monitor my desktop is connected to, has a resolution of 1680x1050.

Perhaps scaling settings are causing your issue. I don't use scaling on any of my systems.

OK thanks for the feedback. And yes it's true that currently I use 170% scaling to make GUI's look bigger. I forgot to check what happens when I use a scaling of 100% or the recommended 150%. But I noticed that certain "newer" apps don't have any problem when I use 170% scaling, while others look blurry.

But I already came to the conclusion that I prefer a resolution of 1280x1024, I never had any problems with it. I wonder which idiot decided that 1920x1080 should become the new standard, most desktop and laptop screens come with this resolution nowadays. Yes it's great for HD video quality, but that's not what I use my computer for.

I think a lot of people prefer higher resolutions and that is the reason for it. You can have a lower resolution if you use an old monitor. Scaling is something that Windows handles poorly compared to macOS. I have no experience with this, but it was I've read.

    I use this one.
It has failed me twice the last 6 months and let updates go in, so i guess the guy is not an "insider". If he would be he should have been on top of what was coming, happening with the W.update function.

Anyway, i use it together with WUB from Sordum now so as to be shure anything does not slip by.

Nice and simple program. Wumt etc has gone, well, is not interesting anymore.

I have checked it out and I guess it's the app developers who need to fix it. If I choose 100% scaling, everything will look extremely small, so this is no option. In fact, that's why Windows actually recommends to use 150% scaling. However lots of apps including WAU Manager will look blurry even when you change DPI settings via context menu see screenshots. Believe it or not, you will have to do this for each app individually. Windows itself can't fix it either, what a joke!

The downside to this program is, as far as i know, it does not update MD. So if if one does not want that, then it is an upside, of course.
