Does anyone use this software? I ask because I do not see much posted here. Other questions about Zemana AntiMalware are how does this compare to Malwarebytes ver 2.47? I am disliking Malwarebytes more and more as I have felt like I am a beta tester for there commercial software products. I have had trouble with version 3, which is why I am still at version 2 of Malwarebytes and now have other problems with Malwarebytes support and my lifetime liceances that they are dragging their feet about.

Anyways, I have Zemana installed as a trail and it seems to scan fast but has not really turned up anything, the same as Malwarebytes over the past couple of years. I wonder if these kinds of software are even needed these days? I also found MalwareFox software, which looks like a skinned over Zemana. Does anyone know if MalwareFox and Zemana are the same or are there differences between the two?

    Thanks for any information!

Malwarebytes and Zemana v2 are both good as second opinion scanners. I wouldn't use the realtime protection in either. At this point, v3 of Zemana has worse detection rates than v2 does and issues with false positives. I would recommend using a more recent version of Malwarebytes, just as second opinion scanner.

MalwareFox is just a rebrand of Zemana. However they have not released v3 yet, so it the same as v2 of Zemana.

Unfortunately it seems that you can't use v2 anymore since it tries to auto-update to v3 and even if you cancel the update and start a scan it says that a major modifications were made to their cloud system and the scan never begins until you update to v3.

I don't like v3 either. Some settings like scan the certificates are removed. And I couldn't find where to change the scan type (like in the old version - Smart Scan, Full Scan etc.). There are only 2 modes - Smart Scan and if you right click and scan a folder it would be called a custom scan... It still gives a lot of false positives and didn't fully uninstalled. There are a lot of remains that should be cleaned manually (like in the old version, so nothing really changed here).

ZAM V2 portable still works, including cloud upload of unknown files.
As a second opinion scanner, portable is recommended anyway.

    I don't recommend V3 at all.
The new owners took a good software, and made a peace of junk out of it.

I was hopeful for V3, and they even gave me a lifetime license.

But unfortunately, it does look abandoned now. Have switched off RT Protection now, because it just became a FP generator!

Just tried v2 portable. It automaticly updated to installer version 3. Just like that!
So i installed my lifetime licensed Zal, v2. Then the key did not activate. Just created a support ticket that will get an answer, so they say, within 72 hours.

    Interesting!

Nope, as I said I tried already v2 portable and it updated to v3. So no, v2 is not working anymore. And the MalwareFox is not the latest v2 build anyway.

I just ran V2 portable, and it worked, like it ever did.
Upload and cloud scan also worked.

    EDIT:
    Screenshot removed

Are you using the official portable version from Zemana, or one from another source? I just download the the portable version of v2.74.2.664 from Zemana's website and as soon as I launched it and it connected to Zemana's cloud, it started to download v3. While you can click on Back to cancel the download, it tried to update every time you launch it.

If you have a link to a different portable version that doesn't auto update, I'd appreciate it.

Edit. I just tried to run a scan and got the following alert and as a result was unable to do so. Maybe you are using a different version of v2?

I use a slightly different version, that still works.
Hopefully Zemana does not follow this thread, and "upgrade" that version too.

I have recommended and installed V2 to many of my customers...
Hopefully Zemana does not auto upgrade users with licence to V3.
ZAM V3 does detect nothing, but gives FPs.
I rate ZAM V3 as unsafe to use.

    And what version is that?

How do you know it REALLY works, maybe it is just going thrue the motions without any actuall detection capacity.

Got an answer from Zemana today. The license key was reset and now functioning so at least ZAL is working as it should.

Not sure what you mean but I note on their webpage, there is a curious little note that says, "Not here right now!" that calls up a "leave a message" text box. I am going to assume they are "social distancing" like most of the world.

My ZAM is chugging along just fine. Updates? Who needs them? I'm still running Windows ME.

To me , Zemana just like a zombie , it seems dead but not dead ,
in 2016~2017 Is the most brilliant time for this company ,
very good detection rate, and also very good at the system for repairing infections,
but since the end of 2017 (or early 2018 ),
many problems began to occur within their company.
After many people left, Zemana has become like a zombie, not dead but not alive.

My lifetime license for Zemana AntiLogger still available , but i stop using on my PC and laptop for more than a year .

Can anyone tell if ZAM's signatures are being updated at all?

OT: I'm very happy with replacing ZAM with KVRT by Kaspersky -- it's on-demand only, free, and VERY broad spectrum. It was highly recommended to me by CruelSister. Here's a link that I'll code, because it goes to an immediate download (~168MB, fast).....

    Code:
    https://www.kaspersky.com/downloads/thank-you/free-virus-removal-tool

Lifetime license and early beta tester (since 2015). Stop using it 2 years ago.

Yes, when the community liaison, JMSafe, abruptly disappeared, something told me that was pretty much it. Also noticed that Zemana consultant and malware removal guy TwinHeadedEagle kind of disappeared, right?

I recently tried out the latest AM version hosted at Bleeping Computer, it promptly flagged the MSI Afterburner .exe (released for the past 7 months.). But I got an automated acknowledgement of my fp report within 48 hours, so there's still some sign of life. But that fp told me all I needed to know. Thanks for the KVRT reminder, bellgamin. :)

Well, Turkey got hit with the Covid-19 pandemic so that might be a factor. We thought ZAM was abandonware several months ago, but then they suddenly started working on version 3. There's a remote possibility that they may resurrect again.
