    You're welcome bellgamin.

I strongly recommend completely uninstalling your current version, including removing settings and logs when prompted by the uninstaller, then a system restart before installing the beta. That will ensure you are using the new VoodooShield Service.

I'm running VS-PRO 5.54F beta after a clean install IAW Krusty's guidelines at post #18153. It's been running ~9 hours as of this moment. The Whitelist tray icon has been present ever since I installed 5.54F. It changed from white to red 4 times. In each of the 4 cases, I double-clicked the tray icon & got the WhitelistCloud page that identified the unsafe app. In all 4 cases, they were apps I have used for several years so I designated them as safe. The Whitelist tray icon quickly turned from red back to white.

Then, about 20 minutes ago, the icon again turned red. I double-clicked the icon & designated the item as safe. This time, however, the tray icon stayed red. I double clicked the icon again, but NO app was listed as unsafe. In the upper right corner of the WhitelistCloud page there was a clickable item labelled "Unresolved Not Safe Items: 1" -- I clicked that line & the page quickly produced a list of file names, ALL of which were designated as "Safe." There was no Unsafe item in that list. No, not one.

So I did a restart, hoping that would cause the tray icon to return to white. That didn't work. RESULT: the tray icon is still red but VS's WhitelistCloud page will not identify what the unsafe item is. I think that there is no unsafe item but the tray icon is hung up.

It's not a major problem (after all, it's a beta) -- 5.54F is otherwise running great -- but I thought I should report it nonetheless.

I've experienced similar issues as @bellgamin (above) so I have disabled WLC until these problems are resolved.

I have noticed some system & app performance improvement with VS 5.54f as compared to the 'performance hits' I reported in post #18145 (when running VS 5.04).

It is most likely a temp file. Dan is considering the best way to fix so he's asked anyone with this issue to copy & send from Program Data > VoodooShield these files:

    DeveloperLog.log
    DeveloperServiceLog.log
    Whitlelist.db

Email to: support at VoodooShield dot com.

The more reports he has the better to find best fix.

Installed 5.54G beta on my Win7 laptop. So far, all is well. :-*

By the way, I had to totally shut down my firewall in order NOT to break the installation of 5.54G.

UPDATE: On Dec. 18, the second day of running 5.54G beta, Whitelist's tray icon again hung on red even though it reported no specific unsafe file. I sent developerlog.log to VS support.

:thumb: Great! The more logs Dan receives the better VS will be as he works through any bugs.

I had a strange bug in 5.54F which has been running great on this machine. I booted it then left it idle for a while. When I came back the WLC tray icon was red, but unlike any other times I could not open VS at all and there was no right click menu available. I sent Dan the logs then uninstalled F and clean installed G. Will see how that goes.

I installed 5.54G on my other machine when it was first released and so far it has been faultless, but that's the way these betas have been for me. OK for a few days then it goes pear shaped, but each new build has been better than the previous. I'm sure Dan will get there.

    Cheers!

I had stopped testing VS while trying to rationalise and simplify my security setups (e.g. using NVT OSA), but will give it another go shortly on one of my machines, as I think he has introduced some interesting new 'stuff'.

Dan is a trojan (of the good sort) and very generous (I have licenses till end of 2023) and well worth supporting his efforts.

Yesterday, I tried to join their forum. The registration process was fast & ended by saying they had sent a confirming message to my email address. It never came. Obviously, that email would provide a temporary password, without which the forum is inaccessible. So I submitted 2 requests, for "lost password" &, in each case, was again assured that an email would be sent. These, too, never came.

The problem cannot be my email address. I own & manage a goodly number of domains, including the domain used for my personal email. Email from VS support has been received, but nothing from the forum.

I would appreciate suggestions as to how I might untie this Gordian knot.

Yes. Since I am a reseller, I control SpamAssassin for all my domains (Via WHM & cPanel). VS is whitelisted with my SpamAssassin (SA). Also, I have SA set-up to NEVER delete, but merely to redirect to a catch-all account.

Still with 5.54G beta. I noticed that there are times when my computer loses focus on an app I am using. I click to restore focus & it is okay for a few moments, then focus is lost again. I closed VS & the problem ceased. That does NOT necessarily mean that VS causes the loss of focus. So I will not yet report this to VS support unless others report similar issues while running 5.54G.
