NBC's streaming service will be a free, ad-supported product to anyone that subscribes to a pay-TV service.
For those that don't subscribe to pay-TV, the service will cost about $12 per month. It will launch in 2020.
NBC believes it can get about $5 in ad revenue per user with the service.

An ad-supported version of the streaming service would be free, according to a report from CNBC on Friday. If this happens, Peacock would be the first completely free video streaming service from a major media provider.

Originally, Peacock was going to be free only for cable subscribers and Comcast broadband customers. Peacock could offer multiple tiers, according to CNBC's report, including an ad-free product for a charge.

Comcast expects to pump $2 billion into NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service in aggregate over 2020 and 2021, while the company is projecting it will not be profitable for the first five years, according to CFO Mike Cavanagh.

The partially ad-supported Peacock is slated to launch in April 2020, with Comcast pay-TV subscribers to have access for no additional charge. The service will also be available for a fee to non-Comcast television subscribers, but Cavanagh didn’t disclose any info on pricing.
Comcast is expecting its biggest win with Peacock to be its advertising model relative to the other combatants in the streaming wars, Cavanagh said.
Comcast has scheduled an investor meeting for Jan. 16, 2020, where it promises to outline additional plans for Peacock.

NBCUniversal's Peacock service might be free for some viewers, but the network also appears willing to charge money for the ad-averse. The Information tipsters claim that NBC is mulling a $10 ad-free tier as well as a $5 plan with limited ads.
That would provide more flexibility and lower prices than Hulu, which has no free tier and starts at $6 per month for limited ads. Of course, Hulu isn't just limited to one broadcaster's content -- you're paying more to get more.

NBC hasn't confirmed the potential new pricing, although you won't have long to find out when it's expected to detail Peacock's cost on January 16th.

In exchange for Lionsgate's library appearing on Peacock, NBCUniversal has decided to share some of its own content with Starz. The streaming rights agreement arrives just as Comcast signs on to continue carrying the Starz premium cable channel and its siblings on Xfinity TV.

To me it depends on the content. You simply can't find all good movies on Netflix, Prime Video and Apple iTunes, at least not over here in Holland. I wish I had access to all of those streaming services in the US.

Comcast’s NBCUniversal finally unveiled its big swing at streaming on Thursday, which the megacorp has titled Peacock. (Yeah, the name really leaves something to be desired.)

As streaming saturation hits surrealist levels, and viewers watch their favorite videos become further partitioned into boutique streaming destinations, there was little doubt that Comcast would have its own take on streaming at some point. And Peacock offers thousands of hours of shows and movies, underlined with the sexiest word (to advertisers, anyway) of them all: Free!
That’s right, unlike its contemporaries, Peacock’s ad-based service — [...] A $5 monthly charge will get you more content (but still carry ads), while a $10 fee will get you ad-free viewing and the whole kit-and-caboodle.

“One way to think about Peacock is it’s like a broadcast network,” said one of the execs after a seemingly confused investor asked a question regarding the overall delivery method of the streaming service.

An ad delivery system
Sure, Peacock will roll out in cable boxes, and be loaded with ads like network and cable channels. But what’s clear from the presentation (which couldn’t have been more different from Disney+’s rollout last April) is that Comcast wants Peacock to be an ad delivery system to destroy all others in its path.

To hook viewers into their ad-loaded trap, NBC execs have leveraged Peacock to offer “the lightest ad load in the industry,” with just 5 minutes of ads per hour. To be fair, that ad-to-content ratio would be quite light these days in TV talk.
But, Yaccarino continued, these would be revolutionary new ad innovations for Peacock, including ads that won’t be as repeated over and over.

And BTW, to give you an idea about what I call "good movies" I've made a list of 700 of my favorites. I would say that about 30 to 40% of them are avaliable on Netflix Holland. All in all, quite disappointing. In the US, most of them are available on at least one streaming service.

Peacock, NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, today announced it will be available on Microsoft’s Xbox One family of devices, including Xbox One S and Xbox One X, when it launches nationally on July 15, 2020.
Peacock Premium will also  be available for $4.99 per month and features more than 15,000 hours of content. Viewers may also upgrade Peacock Premium to ad-free for an additional $5.00 per month.

Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, technically launched back in April, but the app was only available to Comcast subscribers. (Comcast owns NBCUniversal, which means it is also the owner of NBC News THINK.)
Now, 90 days later, Peacock is ready to go live across the country, available on nearly every platform (Roku and Amazon are still holdouts as of this writing), with a bevy of original series arriving as part of the package.

Like Disney, NBCUniversal has successfully positioned a bevy of shows from the last two decades as “NBC products,” and the service has all of them.

All in all, Peacock’s labyrinthine layout makes it seem like it’s almost overwhelmed itself with everything it has to offer.
Its smartest choice, therefore, might be making so much free at the start, so that subscribers can maybe wait on investing in yet another streaming service until it’s figured out how to better package its own content.

However, we also noticed a lot of big-name movies were very quickly leaving the service as well, and we've rounded up all of the movies leaving soon. Two in particular, Evan Almighty and Fast & Furious, are either already gone or are set to leave within a day of the service's launch.
We dug through the long list of films available and were surprised to find expiration dates on so many of them--especially many of the higher-profile films available at launch.

As noted above, it's especially strange to see that Evan Almighty, the sequel to Bruce Almighty, was set to expire on Peacock on launch day. While the service soft-launched in April, it's unexpected to see a Universal Pictures film expire on the day the Universal streaming service is available for public consumption.

It seems to be quite decent, both with movies and series. It offers a couple of my favorite series, like Hunter, 21 Jump Street, Saved by the Bell and Columbo.
