The more Microsoft push to 10 the more I'll keep Seven. We'll find the basical patches also after January 2020, and honestly, I always believed that a multy layer defense is much more effective than MS patches.

If you install KB4524752 or KB4493132, they will utilize the existing GWX reg-keys, however if you do not already have the registry entries, I believe that both these patches will create them.
FWIW: I checked both my Pro and Ultimate W7 systems - these registry keys do not exist. I will not be installing these patches.

Hide them each time if you do not want to have to deal with whatever these patches will morph into over the next few months. I fully expect MS to come back again with an updated version for each of these patches, so even if you hide the first one, windows update will deliver the next one and the one after that. MS have already stated that they are going to be more aggressive than they were with XP end of service. Whatever that entails!

If you install the update that defers future os upgrades, you shouldn't see anything btw.

I have a KB4519976 dated October 17 now after MS took away the one dated Oct 8th.

    Hi emmjay,
I have those reg-keys (mentioned in that KB4524752 article) most definitely on my Win 7 Pro 64-bit.
    Those two reg-keys:

    Code:
    Registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Gwx
    DWORD name: DisableGwx
    Value data: 1

    Registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
    DWORD name: DisableOSUpgrade
    Value data: 1

I could give screenshots, but I guess that that is not needed.

The difference between your situation and mine is most likely that (as mentioned) I still have all the appropiate settings from the GWX Control Panel enabled (and its Monitor is "active").
There were other means and tools besides the GWX Control Panel available at the time, but I did choose back then for the GWX Control Panel.

BTW: I did not install KB4524752.

Yes, the monitor set to 'active' in GWXControlPanel keeps the registry settings provided by that utility, permanent. I read that MS was undoing user registry settings during the GWX campaign - true or not, I do not know. However, I do not anticipate MS overriding user set registry keys (those mentioned in KB4524752), because it is their suggestion to make the change after the 'reminder' has been received and noted.

They have 490 million users still on W7 to placate and only 3 months to do it. MS being hostile will not work.

I also have those keys from long ago on Win7 pro 64bit.
Today I went into Win7 and did an update to KB4519976 dated Oct.17 named Security Monthly Quality Rollup.
The only problem at this point I see is that SeaMonkey took forever to start.

Today I noticed that the Nov 12 MRT exec was removed from Windows Update queue (W7). The issue of it reinstalling over and over again has been resolved but it is still not back via Windows Update for my systems.

Second, I did not receive the new W7 SSU (KB4523206) , but did receive the Nov. rollup. In the past one has been advised to install an updated SSU before the rollup (same goes for the security only update). The catalog still states it as a prereq, but the KB info sheet says that this SSU has no prereqs. This update replaces the previously released SSU KB 4516655.

Just a followup to my post #861...
You can force the SSU to show up (windows update will send it) by clearing (hiding) all the important windows updates currently in the queue. Once the SSU is installed, you can unhide the ones you hid.

NB: an SSU should not be installed with a batch of other updates.

    Thanks again @mood :thumb:.
It's always very much appreciated, and very good to compare with the ones I've downloaded from the MS Catalog.

Would you please allow me, with great respect for all your hard work, to add a few things:

    1.
I for one would like it if you don't use the "spoiler" tag in this thread. The info is too important!

    2.
About the SSU (Servicing Stack Update) for November 2019:
I have a different one, for Win 7 Pro 64-bit, than you posted.
The one I have is: KB4523206
    Servicing stack update for Windows 7 SP1 and Server 2008 R2 SP1: November 12, 2019
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...date-for-windows-7-sp1-and-server-2008-r2-sp1

2019-11 Servicing Stack Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4523206)
    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=kb4523206
    Code:
    http://download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/software/secu/2019/11/windows6.1-kb4523206-x64_c5d5005c02c76fc021c99d2d1d0c38ab7af87971.msu

Am I now misunderstanding you in this case of the SSU?

MSRT is still not back via Windows Update for W7 and Microsoft has not issued a formal response, as yet.

Some forums stated that the W7 version in the MS catalog for Nov 12 is not failing like the WU version (with the 'certificate chain' error). Those sites are pointing the finger at KB4474419 (SHA -2 prereq). If you have this already installed, the Nov 12 MSRT from WU will still fail.

Others point to a sequencing problem, but that usually means that the current SSU KB4523206 needs to be installed first. Ironically, the SSU this month isn't offered until after other updates are installed, and installing it manually first still doesn't fix the issue. Neither does having the previous SSU (prereq) applied.

I'd strongly suggest we consumers wait until Microsoft fixes MSRT (it's a minor product). Wait for windows update to resend it. Don't bother with the catalog or other workarounds (e.g. fussing with certificate trusting).

    Edit:
    Official response from Microsoft ...

They really overcomplicated it. After encountering problems with 4419 on a dual-boot system, I decided not to install the post-August SSU, and everything works fine on several W7 machines. So I don't know what's the full scope of complications.

    Thanks @mood

On Win 7 Pro 64-bit I installed (in this order):

2019-12 Servicing Stack Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4531786)
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...date-for-windows-7-sp1-and-server-2008-r2-sp1

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer KB4530677
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4530677/cumulative-security-update-for-internet-explorer

Security Only Quality Update for Windows 7 KB4530692
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4530692/windows-7-update-kb4530692

    Several Office 2010 updates

    Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework 3.5.1, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1, 4.7.2, 4.8 for Windows 7 SP1 and Server 2008 R2 SP1 (KB4533095)
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4533095/kb4533095

    So far so good.

That last one, KB4533095 from 10 Dec 2019, is interesting because of this highlighted part at that MS site:
