I uninstalled this today. It isn't a bad program, but there were a few minor annoyances. Rootkit scan runs at least once per day, even though I have all the idle time scanners turned off that I can tell. It always prompts me anytime I use a VPN, qbittorrent, etc.. And then today, I was having a really hard time checking out on a stores website, as my credit card info was getting skewed. I finally tracked it down to a plugin Kaspersky had installed on my browser.

high impact on system is the main problem , unless you lower the defences and disable that rootkit scan, kaspersky feels miles behind eset on system impact, I know I should not compare products, so u can swicth eset name with any low impact AV , Kaspersky is not low impact, but its effective

Kaspersky was using A LOT more resources than the program I am trying now.

Unfortunately I have to agree that the 2020 version is a heavy product. It slows my shutdown by a good amount as well as some other issues. The free version is still one of the better free options in my opinion.

Probably not the best choice, to use cloud based AV, when internet connection is slow.

Been using this on two systems for a whole now. Runs fast, no slowdown and well protected from anything I've encountered. Can't argue with the free price either.

Patch F is installed on my system today. Relesed 25 november but in the free version there is a little delay
    https://support.kaspersky.com/14375#block0
    In Patch F:

    • We have fixed the vulnerability which allowed removing third-party extensions from Google Chrome.
    • We have fixed a number of minor issues, some of which have been detected with the help of our users.

As I said, patch G is still in beta for only 2 days now, so it will probably more than a week or 2 until is be officially released...

    Btw as harlan stated here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UxFNdBVm7o

if you use the Free version better combine it with something like Comodo Firewall since the System Watcher is not perfect.

It seems to miss the Turkish ransomware as well:

    Probably this one:

Those youtube tests are meaningless, especially from this Juan Diaz guy, said that, Kaspersky Free is fine by itself, it isnt perfect and doesnt need to be.

Kaspersky has a notorious reputation to conflict with other security solutions, I am totally against a combo with Comodo, NoVirusThanks SysHardener and/or OSArmor are acceptable in combination with Kaspersky, but by no means necessary.

That sample is detected on execution as PDM:Trojan.Win32.Generic... just tried it in a VM with KTS2020f in defaults settings.

Also tried with TAM enabled and blocked its execution, of course TAM are not in free product...

I know most of his videos are staged but that was not the point. I wanted to remind to everyone that no AV provides 100% protection (especially vs ransomware).
As for the conflicts, I disagree. I use this combo for 2 years without any issues. And I know a lot of peoples who are using the same combo. And it's not needed to be Comodo. There are plenty other solutions for multilayer protection.

Thanks for confirming Harlan but did the sample was stopped before doing his job? Also I am not sure if this is the correct dropper. I will try to get the accurate version if possible.

System Watcher performed roll back actions, and Documents in User Space remained protected... anyway it is already detected by KSN, and this specific detection will be added in the next update: HEUR:Trojan-Ransom.MSIL.Gen.gen

With TAM enabled it was blocked directly...

Scheduled quick scan and automatic database update have not run in 5 days for some reason. Had to manually run them.

Chrome is my everyday browser so i don't really care about the extension. I just thought it was strange that the extension was not working for a chrome clone.

I didn't like all the bells and whistles in Kaspersky Free and it was really slow on my fast system. :(

KSC Paid doesn't seem to slow me down at all.

Yeah, the 2020 version seems to be pretty heavy. Despite having activated a new license for KIS I have removed it and purchased another license for the product I was using previously.
