    Right under the hood!

Webroot now does a gradual rollout method for releases. As such, not everyone will receive the update at the same time.

PC Agent Version 9.0.27.49 (Released November 4th, 2019)
    Added
    • Efficacy enhancements
    Fixed
    • Bug fixes

Just opened Vivaldi, which is one of my preferred browsers, and got the following advice by the 'Good Doctor'. :)

My WSA v9.0.26.61 still has not updated automatically so I'd like to do a manual update. Is it okay to install the new release over my version and will doing that preserve my personal settings? If not, how do I retain my WSA settings with a manual update?

A manual update will update in exactly the same way as an automtic update...expect that you initiate it rather than it being triggered remotely.

If worried out losing your settings you should export them to you hard drive. There is an option avaialble in 'Adavnced Setting' which allows export to create the backup, and also import of a prevbiously create 'export' of a configuration.

    Regards, Baldrick

It's not updating for me by itself, or manually with the installer. I don't currently have my WSA partition booted, so can't post the actual error I get. But it seems that the new version only has minor changes, so I'm happy to stick with the old version.

I was unable to update WSA manually until I 'Shut Down (WSA) Protection'. Once I did that, wsainstall.exe ran quickly and successfully, retaining my personal configuration. :thumb:

Glad to hear that method also worked for you. I'm guessing that when WSA is active its anti-tampering function blocks any attempt to overwrite its files.

It would be nice to learn what specific changes were made in this build. Nothing 'on the surface' that I can see. :doubt:

I did want a schedule on a separate HD.
But thanks for the info i have not seen that before so at least i can do it manually.

Is there a way to add scan with WRSA to the right click menu so i can do it from explorer rather than the gui?

Yes they are in the Beta Group!

    "Dear Beta team,

We have released a new version of WSA MAC to support MacOS Catalina. If you have already upgraded or when you upgrade to Catalina you will automatically receive this new version. With this release your Catalina machines should be protected with real time shield, routine scanning, detection and remediation. Our web filtering modules are still in the works and I will provide more updates on that as we get close.

If you are still on MacOS Mojave or older your WSA version will continue to be 9.0.10.132 and will not be updated to 9.1.0 version.

Looking forward to hearing your experiences with this Beta release. Please let us know if you have questions or feedback.

    Thanks

    Pawani"

Depending on the circumstances of the purchase I can imagine this being bad for Webroot.

If OpenText is only acquiring Carbonite without any knowledge or concern for Webroot, then that would be bad.
However if they are aware of Webroot and made the purchase completely knowing the company's history and security software, then perhaps nothing bad will happen.

It doesn't hurt one to learn something new which sparks interest. No need to be sorry.

This is just a personal point of view and somewhat controversial on this thread, but if I were aware of both companies, I would be wary of Carbonite given their poor data backup record (which is reflected in their first financial results after the Carbonite Webroot acquisition), and rather more positive towards Webroot given its (real-life) malware protection performance (also reflected in those same financial results). The founders seem to be pretty savvy and smart people regarding IT, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were (aware).

    Just my 2 cents worth...
