    I'm looking to create a sandboxie exclusion for user-created rules, which requires me to know where those rules are stored.

    This is very odd. After editing the profile name, and changing the UUID appropriately, the rule does persist between sandboxed sessions as I would expect. However, the rule doesn't seem to have any effect; I created a test rule blocking an arrow.gif file at MajorGeeks. I verified the rule then closed Firefox. Then I restarted Firefox and verified the rule is still there. It was. But navigating to the MajorGeeks page does not block the arrow.gif. The rule has no effect.

    Any ideas?

    If rule has persisted between Firefox restarts ( I guess that content was deleted during FF restart ) then I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be processed by uBo.

    There are two types of rules uBO uses; network and cosmetic. The network rules are retained and uses, where as the cosmetic ones are not.

    Retained and used:

    Code:
    www.majorgeeks.com##div.geekyinsidecontent:nth-of-type(99)
    www.majorgeeks.com##div.geekyinsidecontent:nth-of-type(97)
    www.majorgeeks.com##div.geekyinsidecontent:nth-of-type(121)
    www.majorgeeks.com##.pagefooter
    Retained but not used:

    Code:
    ! 10/27/2019 https://www.majorgeeks.com
    ||www.majorgeeks.com/images/arrowd.gif$image
    ||www.majorgeeks.com/images/arrowd.gif$image
    ||www.majorgeeks.com/images/mghot.gif$image
    ||www.majorgeeks.com/images/mgnew.gif$image
    I don't know what the deal is. Cosmetic filtering is not disabled.

    I also don't know why this is happening. I don't have Sandboxie installed ATM so I can't test it for myself.

    This one is a disaster. They are messing with profiles. I updated and ended up with a clean install. Thanks Macrium for getting me back.

    Pete, what issues did you encounter? Related to only profile or something else? Curious to know since I updated Fx without any problems.

    i don't think it's to do with 70.0.1. must be a corrupted profile.

    What I find with this new version is high CPU (45%) at times. Then, I disable the 3 extensions (AdBlock+, HTTPS Everywhere and NoScript), and it goes down to normal. Enable all 3 and everything is quiet. One of those extensions is not playing nice with this version or viceversa. :cautious:

    Out of those three, I'd say HTTPS Everywhere is the CPU hog. Maybe try disabling them 1 at a time?

    I don't have problems, mentioned above (three computers). The problem must be somewhere near you, probably in the user profile folder. Sync works, all data are on their place and also synced.

    Beyonder, just a moment ago, I started the browser and the CPU hovered around 48% at idle, so I tried disabling one extension at a time. NoScript seems to be the culprit.

    Once NoScript is disabled and then enabled (without restarting the browser), the CPU goes down to 0% at idle. And this is with Performance content process limit set at 8 (default). From that moment on, no more excessive CPU as new tabs are opened. Weird.

    Must have been be a curious circumstance or combination there, Peter.

    I have several profiles, one with many add-ons - even HTTPS Everywhere and NoScript (restrictions globally disabled though) . No new or extraordinary issues

    I am still on Firefox 70, after reading Peter and JR describe their issues, I tested for a few hours 70.0.1 (in a sandbox). I tested it watching Gunsmoke at a horrendous site where NoScript is needed. I had no issue with the profile or NoScript.

    With that said, my Firefox used to be better. Up to about Firefox 67, Firefox used to crash about once a year. Now, I am getting crashes every week. Huge difference in stability.

    if you would submit the links to the crash reports i would try to help you out.
    ofc you need to know, that there exist silent - not visible - crashes, most times caused by extensions.
    you speak about profiles like "default" and "default.[...]"?
    thats a very little spread failure and some (me incl.) assume that it is caused by an antivirus or by a different install path (switch from x86 to x64).

    ofc a defective profiles.ini or profile or file(s) in profile can cause this too. did you made any special changes here?

    FYI. My NoScript issue is intermittent. This morning, so far, no high CPUs.
