This rollup was removed by MS today. I did not plan on installing it anyway based on the bad reports coming in for Oct 3 updates.

i don't like this "disruption reduction" monitoring for win updates. anybody knows how to stop windows from displaying this?

"we noticed you regularly use your device between ‏‎xx:xx am/pm and ‏‎yy:yy am/pm. would you like windows to automatically update your active hours to match your activity? we won't restart for updates during this time."

    Hi,
May I please ask what you exactly mean with "removed"?

I still see it at the MS Catalog.
    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4524157

Or do you mean that it is no longer offered via Windows Update?

I was just checking updates for my Win 7 machine today, and also do not see that patch [KB4524157] offered in updates today. I don't think that I will go looking for it at this point, either.

I had 2 updates on Win 10 1903 which took the build up to 18362.418

Software removal tool and Cumulative KB4517389

    Quick and painless.

Mentioned here, just to point out, new SSU KB4521863 is also installed - automatically -

Yes, it's always like that (well, at least for a couple of previous updates). Don't quite understand the rationale behind it.
You can also see it in Event Viewer's 'Setup' logs.

Read this and forced the updates here, too. Also happened to spot Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry Runner in task manager really briefly earlier today. So, maybe 1909 is right around the corner. Is anyone else in the Insider Slow Ring who has gotten 1909 already? Did it install well?

Slow ring builds are few and still marked 1903. Release preview builds are marked 1909 but I don't think we're at the final release yet.

If you are using Windows Update, the latest SSU (KB4521863) will be offered to you automatically. To get the standalone package for the latest SSU, search for it in the Microsoft Update Catalog.

We were just curious as to why the SSU never shows in (I 'm not sure how to call it') Metro iteration of Windows Updates while it does in Control Panel and Event Viewer.

    Excuse the bad contrast.

What I have been observing of late with the 1903 cumulative update is what appears to be a double install. Progress percentage keeps increasing and all of a sudden its back to 10% or so. In the past, this was a tell tale sign of a failed install attempt and would be recorded as such in the Win Updates log. I haven't seen one of those in ages.

So my best guess is the SSU is bundled with the cumulative update installer. The SSU installs first but only is recorded in the full Win Updates log only visible via Control Panel. Appears the Win 10 Updates display accessed via Settings is set up to only display a sub-set of the full Win Updates log. In other words, the SSU is not a "real" Win 10 update as far as recording purposes go.

Yes, I vaguely remember this though it was long ago (last year, around 1809 release?). I think stapp would remember as well, as I think I saw her posts describing 'double installs'. Then I reported back with the same, and you could have also been there. These 'double installs' happened twice-thrice and then this behavior stopped but really can't remember exactly now.
EDIT: I don't see double installs with 1903 now.
EDIT2: There. I found some of the old discussion. Is the similar happening now with you?
This is similar to what I wrote here. Not actually bundled as a single download but delivered together with the cumulative as a prerequisite.

Oh, OK, I was confusing the Release Ring with the Slow Ring. Thanks a lot for clearing that up. :)

No. If an update failed, it will show as such in the Settings -> Windows Update section. What I posted was the activity appears to reflect first the install of SSU. Then the percentage complete returns to a lower value reflecting the cumulative update in progress.

I see. Did not notice progress bar fluctuating like that. It stucks at around 40%, then again at 70 and finally it finishes. It's been like that for several previous cumulatives.
In any case, nothing for you to worry about I'd say. Just funny to see how updates behave differently on different systems.
I was almost certain that it will arrive today :thumbd:
It's time for MS to change the numbering scheme - this one will be 1910, previous one was 1905 and the one before that 1810 (or even 11, don't remember).

I've been getting the old double install frequently the past couple months, todays update took awhile but no issues so far.
