I currently have 5.30.0 lifetime license. I see that Bo is going to upgrade on W7, so thought I might as well follow suit.

I went to the Sandboxie website to download 5.31.4 and I was confronted with that scary export form, which I assume Americans do not see. I do not live in the USA. Company name and other industry stuff is mandatory even though one can check 'home user' as an option. Will the Commerce Secretary send the FBI after me if I fill that form out with 'alternate-facts' ? I can see no other way of getting the update (looked at majorgeeks but it is 5.30 they send, not 5.31.4).

I just used a 10 minute mail address and was economical with the truth regarding my name, address and all other questions.

The license servers will be up at least until Sandboxie goes open source. So people dont ge errors if trying to activate old licenses.

They explain it on their download site how home users should fill out this part of the form:

That makes a lot of sense, your explanation, bo elam. OK, thank you for the information. Hopefully, we get a decent heads-up from Sophos this time as to when that'll actually take place. December as Brummelchen believes? Guess we'll find out. :cautious:

I ended up doing my W10 first, done today. All is beautiful. I ll probably do my W7 next time I start that machine. There is really no reason not to upgrade to 5.31.4. Not even nostalgia for what we had that now is gone (our paid licenses). :)

I have the feeling that it ll be a few months after December, but the servers being up or not wont matter anymore, if we are using 5.31.4 or latter versions.

we will also see if there might be an xp compatible build after that date.
i re-animated my xp (3rd machine) after i tried the posready patches and guess what - none of my software did it. i had to uninstall any after the tls patch and that was a lot. next level will be windows 7, maybe a reduced windows 8 if the cpu is supported (i have doubt). backupped and gone :D

    @Brummelchen
Windows XP is supported up to Sandboxie version 5.22.
Any beta/stable versions after Sandboxie 5.22 will not work on XP.

Question was asked on Sophos community forum if XP users can expect a free version
release with modified code that does not check for a license or restrict any features.

Sophos Answer: There are no plans to create a free version for XP.

Respectfully, do you recall the EULA verbiage from 5 years ago?

Is there a way to duplicate or import settings from my defaultbox to another sandbox that I created? Thanks.

You need to create a new sandbox for this:
Sandbox -> Create New Sandbox -> Copy Settings from existing sandbox: ...

There seems to be no 'staff' left to post over on the sbie forums now. It's quite depressing.

Have most Wilders people moved to the 5.31.4 version now? Or are you hanging on to see if anything else happens?

Hanging onto 5.31.2 beta though it's not installed. HitmanPro.Alert was very briefly considered but....no.

I was kind of wondering whether Barb/Sophos was on leave or vacation. Right now, it looks like users are helping other users. The most active thread is the one at the top about its going freeware.

Looks like a trend to go silent and leave people hanging and speculating. Not nice.

    Hi Stapp

I haven't upgraded yet, but my reason is simply other distractions. Will do it soon.
