Finally, it's about time. I hope a better CEO will soon fix all of the stupid flaws in Firefox. Mozilla made a mess out of Firefox Quantum. Yes, the new Gecko/Servo engine is pretty good, but the interface is still stuck in the stone ages and they keep annoying you about browser updates.

This means that malware would have also been able to steal those passwords. And I wonder if Lockwise was also involved, because this is supposed to be a new and improved password manager.

No, that's why I'm not a browser developer, what kind of dumb question is that.

The point is that I'm not a browser developer, so I don't NEED to be able to do it better. I'm also not a baker, or movies director, but according to your dumb way of thinking, I can't criticize the quality of movies or bread. You need to start working on your logic, it's clearly not your strongest point LOL.

Can anyone tell me why FF has a new look and all my toolbar shortcuts are missing? I really don't know all those by heart in order to reconstruct the list, luckily I do remember wilders.
And, all my add-ons are gone.

Never mind, I was able to Restore an old backup copy which is not much different than the one that disappeared when FF forced me to create a new profile.

But I now cannot download the latest Privazer update file (3.0.77) or any pdf files.

Perhaps the bookmarks toolbar is turned off?

duh? Firefox is looking same as version 57 arrived. which was your last version? current is now v69 so "quantum" is now 1,5 years old with only slightly changes.
using portable? wrong installation folder? means new profile!

    no blind guessing please!

I can't download the latest Privazer update file (3.0.77) or any pdf files.
Can this be due to the Private Browsing setting?
I need to be able to download legitamate files such as the Privazer, Libre Office etc. updates plus accounting pdfs.

They now want to start selling this ****. This is probably the problem. Only very interesting would be to know if the paid **** is better than the current one.

could be a profile problem at all, exe (privazer), pdf/more. or your installed antivirus?!
    too much variables.
"privazer" is not available as extension (my first though)
    https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=privazer

The problem - it can cause your issues, thats why cleaners any kind are not recommended, not for windows and even not for firefox. i assume a damage profile and suggest you to drop privazer and create a new profile

    create a new profile
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows
    or
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager

This article explains how to selectively transfer Firefox user data and settings to a new Firefox profile

The problem has to be Firefox, I can download the files using IE.
FF has already forced me to create the new profile you speak of and that's the one preventing downloads.
I don't think it's fair to also force me to go into the bowels of the profile to make downloads possible again.
But thanks, I'll look at your suggestions.

We don't know almost anything about your setup: your system, Firefox version etc. Yet, we see something strange - Firefox changed look on your PC lately, but there were no look changes in the previous versions for rest of us, which means you may have very outdated Firefox installation. Don't be surprised when you don't follow updates closely and something breaks when you finally do update. I understand skipping one version, but skipping like 10 or 12 versions in a row is a big no-no.

I don't see a point in the version increase in any way.
