Disney’s $6.99-per-month streaming immediately makes it a value winner over Netflix

    It all comes down to content, I don't believe Disney has produced that many hit movies.

    It certainly looks like Netflix is in trouble.

    Well, after ten years and 1200+ rentals, I hope their multiple failures at streaming don't drag down their DVD/Blu-ray rental division, DVD dot com.

    For $16.20 a month I get 2-3 discs a week for the new movies going for $2.99 to $5.99 a pop from the streamers. And disc sets for full seasons of HBO, Starz and Showtime series, for the few original series that've interested me. Granted that it takes over six months or so for them to make it into the catalog. Without eating into my data cap.

    I do stream Amazon Prime and the free old movies and series on Roku and Tubi, tho. And signed up and off over the years for the Game of Thrones seasons (those discs up to season seven right now are at DVD dot com, season eight in six months or so). fuboTV for the cord-cutting content and beIN MotoGP and WSBK.

    As well, Netflix's disc catalog is without equal. They'd have to pay me to watch 99% of the tasteless garbage they stream anyhow.

    BTW, one The Disney+ rolls out, I wonder what's going to happen to their Hulu?

    Disney and Charter are talking about carriage fees, and the outcome could affect how much you pay for cable in the streaming era

    - Disney made A LOT OF movies/films in the past and they can use that content to kill the (streaming) competition (think: Netflix). I consider this to be a REAL "pain in the ***" for Netflix. It will be interesting to see what Nexflix reply to this move is. Perhaps they will team up with another producer/owner of films (MGM ??, .............. ). Finally there is some SERIOUS competition for Netflix.

    I think this will destroy Netflix within 18 months.

    @zapjb:
    - Agree. Although I wouldn't go that far (yet) that it will kill Netflix that soon. Disney still has to sign up enough viewers to get this business going, gaining enough momentum to be a worry for Netflix in the next say 12 months. But I could be wrong. We'll just have to wait and see. But the prospects for Netflix are "not too good". Pass me the popcorn. This is going to be VERY "interesting".
    - Keep also in mind that Netflix still is losing money every quarter/year.

    I don't think it will destroy Netflix, but it might destroy the stock price of Netflix. I think it might pullback to 200 dollar, it's currently at 302.80. But anyway, what still bugs me about both Netflix and Prime Video, is that a lot of my favorite movies are not available, they should hire me because they are not doing a good job.
