It uses Cloudflare's Warp. And Mozilla is not making it clear that Warp shares users' IPs with Cloudflare-using sites. Apparently through the True-Client-IP header, which is available to Enterprise website owners.[0] Instead, it says standard things like...[1] ... and ... Sure, you get to the end of that, and you see "providing protection from third party trackers around the web". But the bullet starts with talk about keeping your IP address hidden. How many will realize that it's not hidden from websites that you visit? Not many, I think. Cloudflare is just like Google. Sure they started off with good ideals but money always corrupts them in the end. You can not trust corporations who have who have shareholders and investors. They will always put profits before the good of human kind.
I don't so much have a complaint with Cloudflare. They are what they are, and I do like their honesty. It's Mozilla that I'm disappointed in, here.
The temptation for Mozilla's just the same - make the browser a potentially little mine-able world of its own they control - same as with making DoH default, webrtc and so on.
Mozilla receives $500 million a year from Google to make their search the default in Firefox. Make of that what you will. Mozilla have also been caught using Google analytics for FIrefox addons. Problem is without Mozilla we would be stuck with only Chromium browsers and that would be a very bad thing.
I wouldn't mind if Mozilla offered additional (not free) VPN service and get some revenue from it. But they should offer proper (no-logs, no-ads...) service to be considered privacy friendly and not something like this.
IDK. I forgot about their partnership when I bought ProtonVPN subscription but can't find where I could subscribe through Mozilla.
I was not familiar with Cloudflare at all until the past week. Am I correct in understanding that Cloudflare's Warp is a free vpn, and that Firefox is now offering a vnp-like in-browser extension that's based on Cloudflare's Warp?
