Adobe Flash is going away. Google drove another nail into its coffin with Chrome 76, which blocks all Flash content on websites by default. If you still use Flash, you can re-enable it for now—but Chrome makes it annoying.

Google is having another go at killing off the displaying of https and www in the URL bar of upcoming versions of Chrome, despite protests from users.

Back then the plan was to lose the "m." subdomain as well as "www." all in the name of usability. While the Chocolate Factory is still keen on axing "m." at some point, it is "www." that is for the chop now.
Emily Schechter, a product manager for security in Chrome, explained yesterday that since the tech had been lurking in the Canary, Dev and Beta channels for a few months now, the gang reckoned it was time to spread the net wider via the Stable channel.

However, "this logic could potentially confuse users. It will be nearly impossible for users to recognise the difference between www.example.com and example.com, if they serve different content."
The developer added: "It would not be clear to users how to get from one to the other if needed."

WHAT IS "PATCH GAPPING?"
"Patch gapping" is a relatively new technical term that is used to describe gaps in the patching process of software that relies on open-source components.
CHROME'S LATEST PATCH GAP
While patch gaps happen all the time, not all software fixes can be manipulated in a way that's useful for developing weaponized exploits. "Weaponizable" bugs are rare, and not all of them happen to be in Chrome's open-source components.
However, in a report published today, István Kurucsai, a security researcher for Exodus Intelligence, said he found one in V8, the open-source component used as Chrome's JavaScript engine.

Kurucsai argues that threat actors had weeks to scour the V8 changelog for security fixes and then develop exploits that could have been used against Chrome.
