Malewarebytes and Webroot are the big losers. Surprising results from Windows Defender. https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/
Webroot was always weak, so nothing surprising and since the acquisition, it is just a piece of junk, promising features that never saw the light... So much for "we work differently"... only noobs believed in it. Malwarebytes went down since years, nothing surprising here too. No need test labs to tell.
I don't really believe Malwarebytes belong here as I don't consider it the same class of product. Not defending the results, it just doesn't seem to be a like comparison. Disappointed that ESET no longer participates. Well done to all of those with a perfect score.
Yes correct, and Malwarebytes always perform badly. They should have bought another AV company, because apparently their products aren't good enough, and they can't seem to get it right. And BTW, Webroot also performed badly, I wonder what's up with that.
The test seems a bit off. April Malwarebytes scores 5.5, June it is 2. What happened in-between? But, as everyone says, it is not a full product. I only use it along with whichever anti-virus program is up at the moment. (Today that is AVGfree)
I dropped Webroot..Because it's light I think people confused it with power..I don't believe all the Amazon positive reviews........It was better when Webroot used Sophos ..engine.. Right now I've gone 360 degrees back to Norton..
Symantec has been on that path for many years now, like McAfee, a dinosaur that just won't go. Norton's QA and support is already outsourced to firms in India, Philippines etc. - and I surely believe that after the sale of the enterprise business the whole Norton Security unit will be developed and maintained somewhere in India. And the product may or may not survive in it's current form considering a lot of the technology base has gone with the Enterprise unit, leaving less resources for the resultant Norton unit. We don't know what this means - there's always a good chance "Norton" will be reborn as a product with Avira or BD SDK in the future.
The BitDefender SDK based products haven't done well this round (in terms of protection) - both BullGuard and eScan at 4.5, VIPRE and BD itself at 5.5. Wonder what went wrong.
Going by this report, it seems Symantec is no longer an undisputed leader and is facing heavy competition from Trend Micro and McAfee.....
Those two were always the rivals, so still leaders and managed to have 2 products rated, nothing really changed.
