I recently clean installed Win 10 v1903, and unfortunately, and uncharacteristically (as I was after the most 'vanilla' MS setup) chose my Microsoft account, rather than the local account option.

One unwelcome implication is that the user folder name is set up from the MS email address so in my case 'pauld', instead of the 'Paul' I would like.

I would like to change this ... the local vs MS account issue is actually less of an issue for me.

Or is there a simpler, or better way? If so, a link would be appreciated.

I still have very little installed at this stage.

Or should I just leave well alone, to prevent 'under the hood' problems ... ? No big shakes really, just my OCD!

Lesson learned is to always set up local account, one can change to MS account options later.

i'd say leave it alone. changing account name almost always causes issues, sooner or later. (based on personal experience and others' as well).

btw, you can create a new local account with desired account name and delete the previous one.

 

It is what I do, simple and no hassle.

2019-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 version 1903 for x64-based Systems (KB4505903). A bit long to download but no issues so far. 1903 build 18362.267
Only 340 MB to delete after the update.

 

I am doing this one right now. The DL was fast, and is moving along OK so far. Installation went up quickly to 100% (probably the installation of the Servicing stack) afterward it restarted installing, at this moment is at 73% of the (my guess) actual installation of the Cumulative Update.

Edit. The update is finished, I am now on 18362.267. It appears all went well.

In the past, after a cumulative or feature update, I would delete previous (old) versions of Windows, etc. to reduce size of images.

That option seems to be gone from System>Storage cleanup options.Or am I missing something?

What is the best way of doing that now?

 

1- Run diskcleaner with admin rights.
2- use Wisedisk Cleaner free (slimming tab)

 

No, its not gone. Read here. I wrote about it before. No need to worry or do anything drastic. This thing (cleaning old windows updates files) is working differently in 1903.
