    For those hyper-security conscious mavens, that certainly casts suspicion on their embedded VPN feature...

    They say;
    But i don't trust them. I would use Vivaldi or Brave Browser instead.

    Opera, my favourite browser back then, was great in the good ol' days. I wouldn't use it these days, however.

    Until now, no Opera server has this version. There are also all links on the Opera website for downloading version 62.0.3331.72. Such a version doesn't exist on Opera servers, have never been there.
    This is not the first time that portableapps.com is distributing a non-existent Opera version.

    I suggest you take up that issue with them, as PortableApps.com shows it as a legit version:

    I use it only for testing, it's better than Chrome and Edge at the moment, it runs quite smoothly. However, it's still not clear to me if it's owned by Opera, or by some Chinese company.

    The Opera browser is now Chinese owned if the following is true:

    Wow no kidding? I have not used Opera in years but now that it is Chinese owned, I have stayed away from it.

    Well, it's kinda paranoia and such comments make me laugh, nothing personal. You even cannot imagine how many Chinese investors or at least Chinese resources stand behind many worldwide brands. Does it automatically mean a security risk when using those brands? No, certainly no. On the other hand do you really think that your data are safe at brands being controlled by non-Chinese capital like Facebook, Insta etc.? No, certainly no.

    Surely but it's a stance/philosophy and that's completely fine. My post aimed to comments ... it's (something) owned/funded by Chinese so it's dangerous (not safe) then ...
