Thanks for the tip, may give it a go, based on your recommendation (thought you were an IOBit Uninstaller fan). Have always used Revo till now ...

Do you always use the 'Monitored Programs' mode? Does it work well even without it?

I do like IObit Uninstaller a lot, but have recently switched to Total Uninstall. Becuase it takes snapshots before and after installing software, it is able to keep track of evey file and registry key that gets created when you install software and it uses this information to cleanly install software, with no leftovers remaining. While there are other uninstallers that uses snapshops, including the Pro version of Revo, in my experience they don't work nearly as well as Total Uninstall.

I always monitor installations by right clicking on the installer and selecting Monitor with Total Uninstall from the context menu. It only takes a few seconds to do create the before and after snapshots, so it's not much an annoyance.

I was using Comodo Programs Manager to monitor installs, but it stops working from time to time. Install Monitor looked promising as a replacement, as in theory it automatically runs it the background and monitors every change made to system when you install software, with no need to launch it manually. However, in practive it misses some changes. I've been reporting issues to the author and he has been making impovments. But, it's still got a long way to go in my opinion.

Question for you if I may, can Total differentiate between a software and component installers the original setup initiates (e.g. software also installs/updates c++ redistributables) ?

I can't answer that right now. I will need to install something that installs some of these and see what was traced.

BC Uninstaller is my new favorite. I've tried several others, but Bulk Crap Uninstaller just works. In fact, it found a Comodo nuisance that was driving me crazy. Every time I booted up I had a box appear with something about ComodoWebStart.vbs not being found. I looked in startup, and everyplace else I could think of, including the path shown in the box. It wasn't there. I looked through the various things in Revo Pro, but no luck.

I downloaded BC Uninstaller just out of curiosity, to compare it with my Revo Pro. While playing with it to learn it, I went into tools, and Startup, and it had found ComodoWebStart.vbs. Deleted it and no further annoyance.

I did a quick test, to see if it could cleanly uninstall Zemana AntiMalware 2. When you uninstall v2 releases of Zemana, a driver remains on your system, making it an ideal program to test.

I installed Zemana, but the installation was not automatically monitored. I uninstalled Zemana and then manually deleted the remaining driver. Then I manually got IObit to monitor the install of Zemana, by going to the Install Monitor tab. Unfortunately, it missed the installation of the driver, which meant that it was not able to cleanly uninstall it.

Thanks @mood for the heads up.

Be aware though that the offered free of charge PRO upgrade via the main GUI isn't completely free. You will be charged after the free trial expires. Quite confusing.

They've been doing that for some time now, with all of their release candidates.

Yeah, while I love IObit products this approach is kinda stupid and I cannot get rid of impression it is deliberately confusing.
