Updates for Win 10 1903.. build now at 18632.239

    MSRT
    kb4506991 cumulative for .net
    kb4507453 cumulative for 1903

It went okay although the cumulative for 1903 hung around installing for a while.

Applied all the updates for a winver of 18362.239 like above. Only thing: as expected, I'm out over 1.5 GB of disk space but it's not showing up in Disk Cleanup. Ran PrivaZer but no dice. Anyone else? I'm aware Disk Cleanup is supposed to be deprecated but we should be able to ditch the Update debris somehow. Also, the Store tile remains dead, so maybe the next round or the next.

I installed updates for Windows 8.1 and Office 2013 and so far didn't encounter any problems.

I installed the June updates For Windows 10 Pro 1809 yesterday, and all is well here. Blocked the July updates for now.

Did the same for Windows 7 Pro SP1. All good there too! :thumb:

OK, thank you Osaban for confirming you can use Disk Cleanup for Update clearing. I smell a repair-install down the road, I can feel it in me bones. :cautious:

fyi, just about the same here. try the following: run an elevated command prompt and type "cleanmgr /sageset:65535 /sagerun:65535" and run it.

OK, I ran the command as Administrator, also made sure I ran Disk Cleanup as Administrator. Here's what I got:
    dskcleanup.PNG
Unfortunately, running Disk Cleanup as Administrator following this command did not bring up the means to remove Update files.
    diskclean2.PNG
Did some searching online, there was a similar command but that didn't work either and in fact, caused Disk Cleanup to not appear until I restarted machine. I ran some system tests like Dism and sfc /scannow but those didn't reveal anything. Hmmm.

Thanks for the suggestion, though. :)

Hi plat1098, I am going to tell you something so (hopefully) you stop trying to fix something that doesn't need fixing :). What you are experiencing (Windows update files not appearing for cleanup in Settings or Disk cleanup tool after doing an update), seems to me as something new in 1903. Not everyone is experiencing this thing, and you might experience it after one update (like you, today) and then after the following update, like, at the end of this month, files might appear available for cleaning for you. And when this happens, a big chunk of what you should have had available for cleanup today, will also get cleaned next time you see files available for cleanup.

What you are seeing, I already experienced and other people have as well. If you look at the size of System files in Storage, you ll see that it is a GB and more greater than it was before today's update. Thats where the files you expected to be able to clean after today's update, are right now. Eventually, Windows will free them and you ll gain that space back.

Keep track of the size for System files in Settings, and know what it is before doing updates and next time you ll gain/lose space after updates, specially when you dont have an option for cleaning, you ll see the size for System files moving up accordingly. Dont worry.

You also should have a few hundred MB in the Download folder inside the Software distribution folder, usually after a few days, the system frees up most of that space. But you could clean that up yourself. Todays update put about 300MB there. Look inside that folder, you might even have a few GBs in there but it shouldn't be.

    Bo

I miss the itemised cleanup in Settings>Storage in v1903, and the ability immediately cleanup Update files.

I always have images to fall back on, and this just increases the size of the image.

Disk Cleanup is still available in File Explorer>General tab thankfully, but when that is removed, some 3rd party tool will have to do the job ... like Cleanmgr+.

bo elam: you are very level-headed in these matters and I and others are very appreciative. Now I'm reading elsewhere here about Windows Updates causing mini-issues such as momentary freezing and file corruption identified by sfc, some of which I experienced but originally attributed to this:
Curious about the latest MB3 so I installed it and it froze solid during installation. The UI took several minutes to then appear, by then, I'd initiated an uninstall which took additional minutes. Event Viewer showed MB failed to connect to service. I had a momentary freeze with the Start Menu. Then I installed Windows Updates and discovered the cleanup was missing.
You're saying to leave it and see what happens and that's what I'll do. No need to get drastic if things are functioning reasonably well at the moment.

Mr. paulderdash: you make great reasons to keep up a diligent back-up routine. :thumb: Unfortunately for me, the last stable image dates back to the year 1809. Slacking: not a great idea.

Update: I think there's a problem or problems with the File Explorer following latest round of updates. I manually removed over 3GB of folders but Explorer is showing only 1GB recovered space. Hopefully, the next updates will fix it.

I haven't seen the restart loop issue on over a dozen PCs. It must be dependent on something else.
