Microsoft Flight Simulator is back! The reveal happened during Microsoft‘s Electronic Entertainment Expo event today in Los Angeles.
The new Flight simulator is coming to Xbox One and PC. It will also be available via Xbox Game Pass.

I'd had it with the last version of MS Flight simulator, when I was trying to fly a 737 and was having trouble. After 4 attempts it aborted the game, and told me to try again when I could focus better. That was it!.

Had nothing to do with that. That happened long before any 737 problems came up, it was pre Max. Also it was because I was trying to fly the darn thing with a keyboard.

I have never understood the fun of this game, I mean I suppose you can never really simulate the feeling of flying for real. But the graphics of the new version do look good though.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is taking to the skies in 2020, but the publisher is sharing details about the current state of development beginning today. Microsoft launched the game’s Insider Program, and you can sign up for it right here. Insiders get regular updates about the studio and Microsoft Flight Simulator as well as a roadmap for what the developers are working on next.

When it comes to the technical alpha tests, Microsoft hasn’t provided a lot of details. The roadmap for September just says “Build program — tech alpha timeline.”
But since the company is saying that it will talk about the “Build program — tech alpha No. 2 timeline” in October, the first public test could begin next month.

It's probably fun for those that would like to fly but can't. Kinda like teens that play racing games because they aren't old enough to drive. It's not the real thing, but it's as close as you're gonna get.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 just received the official system requirements. Developer Asobo Studio (A Plague Tale: Innocence) revealed the minimum, recommended and ideal specifications for playing the game once it's released later this year on PC.

They did not provide resolution or frame rate targets for each set of specifications, but it's reasonable to believe the ideal spec will be required to play at 4K resolution. Overall, the requirements are far from insane, just as the developers had promised.
The most peculiar requirement is, of course, bandwidth. Then again, it's not surprising if you've followed the development of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and our coverage of it.

The game will leverage over two petabytes of Bing Maps data from the cloud on-demand, including real-world weather data, to provide the most accurate depiction of Earth.

The latest release in the popular Microsoft Flight Simulator series is finally available but Steam gamers are already experiencing some turbulence.

Several early reviewers are blasting Microsoft and Valve for an issue related to Steam’s refund policy. Per the policy, Valve will refund a game purchase for any reason so long as the title has been played for less than two hours.
As early adopters are finding out, the initial download for the game from Steam is around 500MB. After that, you are tossed into an installer to download the remaining 90GB or so of game data.

The problem is that Steam’s two-hour timer starts ticking once the launcher opens, meaning you’re on the clock from the moment you start downloading content directly from Microsoft.

Today we’re benchmarking a cargo plane load of graphics cards in the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. The game was released this week, so we pre-ordered it for testing and the second it was available we got to it... only to waste an enormous amount of time downloading the 100 GB game.

Visually the game is breathtaking and we’d say that we’re looking at truly next generation stuff here. From a technical standpoint the game is very impressive, though on the hardware front there are some limitations that we’ll discuss towards the end of this article.
Using Microsoft’s Azure the game analyzes the map data to generate photorealistic 3D models of buildings, roads, trees, grass, water, terrain and so on.

Therefore you’re really going to want a Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i5-10600K for optimal performance, though the larger caches of higher-end CPUs can still be beneficial, so this is something we might have to look into.

We just mentioned RAM usage, and this is a game that will help justify that 32GB memory kit. With 16GB you’re right on the edge and we often saw memory usage exceed 16GB, so for optimal performance 32GB will be required.
Be aware that 4GB cards will cause you some headaches. Then going beyond 1080p, the game unquestionably requires 8GB of VRAM.

For choosing the best GPU for Flight Simulator 2020, if you’re just targeting 30 fps which as we’ve said is enough for playable performance, though opinions may vary on this one, but assuming you agree... for 1080p Ultra you’ll require a GTX 1660 Ti, GTX 1070, Vega 56 or 5600 XT. Then at 1440p you need an RTX 2060 Super or RX 5700. Finally for smooth 4K performance, an RTX 2080 Ti, or you might as well wait for those next-gen GPUs to arrive.
