"Walmart to offer grocery delivery right to customer’s fridge — even if they’re not home

InHome Delivery launching in three markets later this year

Walmart’s InHome Delivery drivers will even be trained to “organize the most efficient refrigerator.”...

Groceries will be delivered by “tenured” employees who will go through an extensive training program and be vetted through background checks and motor-vehicle records verification,...

They will gain entry to a house through smart-entry technology and wear a camera, so customers can watch remotely,...

Customers will need to have a specific smart lock installed in their home,..."

Letting strangers into your house to deliver groceries when you're not there? I'm sure nothing could go wrong lol.

While I won't be around to see it, in time this will probably be a robot doing the delivery... Or maybe I will.

Why are people so lazy that they can't go to the store and buy groceries themselves? Its quickly becoming a world where everyone sits at home on their computers 24/7 and never have to talk to a real person.

You can be sitting playing video games for 2 days straight drinking beer and have them deliver some fine Walmart produce probably grown in China right into your fridge. That's a life saver.

I work for Walmart and I think this is a bit much. I'm not letting anyone in my home when I'm gone.

Anymore seems things are steeped in competition like Walmart so they up into some uncharted territory.
Ordinarily you might say this can't possibly is going to fly for long but a dumbed down society will try anything once in the name of convenience?

That said i'm young enough that I remember curbside grocery delivery coming right into your home in the 1960's, BUT your family knew the local store family on a personal level and it was simply common courtesy to be home when your grocery delivery arrived.

USA still the best. But barely.
In near future a lot of houses, apts. etc will come with alcoves/secure zones for delivery separate from the main house. And a lot of houses will retrofitted.

Disabilities. If my nearby children didn't help me, I'd have to hire someone. There are huge numbers of us out there.

    I totally agree with you.
I have to agree it is good for the disabled people, BUT I see it every day when I'm out and around, young people calling / texting into grocery stores for pick up groceries. Too lazy to do their own shopping. Today anyone can be a hermit in their home and never leave their computer, never go hungry, always entertained by electronic toys etc. There is no more Face to Face communication these days. Try talking to a younger person, they can't look you in the eye when communicating. Glad I grew up in the Good Old Days :)
