Today I saw new changes in Yahoo mail. And decided to take a look at how to opt out of personalized ads and other stuff that Oath/Yahoo is doing in Yahoo mail. After 2 hours, I still couldn't figure it out how to get it done. At no time, I found my way to a page that had simple Opt out/Opt in settings or Controls. I am annoy and frustrated. Because of NoScript, I am not seeing the ads but I want to block Oath from collecting personal information as much as possible. They surely are making it very difficult to find out how to change privacy related settings. I found my way to the page that has this below (Dashboard, I think is called), but even that is very confusing to me. I cant tell the difference of what it means when you check the setting one way or the other. And there is no Opt out/Opt in setting either. I need help, please and thank you. Bo

I only hope they changed the opt out options for the better. Shortly after the data leak and the becoming of "oath" I wanted to opt out (on sharing data with xyz) and you literally had to click 60++ options all by hand. Opt out for A > uncheck box A, Opt out for B > uncheck box B.......... At least that made the choice for me easy to ditch them Maybe disable noscript just as long as you search for the settings? (Since I guess you are still sandboxed) I hope you get it sorted out
Hi Page, thanks for taking the time to look around to give me a hand, I dont take it for granted and I appreciate it. In the 2 hours I spend yesterday ( no more since, I let it go) searching and clicking this and clicking that, I came upon the link you posted. Before finding the link, I had found the steps the link show and I after following through, I ended up.....with the screens I posted in my OP yesterday. Is tough. In my reading yesterday, I read someone say something like this, " By law, Oath has to give the options to Opt out, but by law, they dont have to make it easy to Opt out". And they sure haven't. Hi Freki, thanks for trying to help. I did disable NoScript to make sure nothing "important" was blocked in Settings while trying to find my way around the labyrinth of confusion that we have to go thru for something that should be simple, choosing to Opt out. Bo
Even with NoScript disabled, I cant see the ads in Yahoo mail. Perhaps something is blocked by a Firefox setting. So, just for seeing what I am supposed to be seeing when I open Yahoo mail, I opened my account using IE11, and saw the ads, they are not based on me, not personalized. So, I am getting what I want, sort of, I guess, without....opting out. Edit: Even if I was able to find my way around to Opt out, it probably wouldn't help. Look what I found in the Yahoo pages related to ads. "If your browser does not accept third-party cookies or if you have a browser with specific privacy controls that you have edited to delete cookies after each session, you may not be able to opt out. Opt-outs rely on cookies to operate within browsers. But this should not concern you, because not accepting third-party cookies or allowing only session cookies prevents interest-based advertising in many cases." Bo
