Yeah I found in the last release a return of the "delay" bug. If indeed it qualifies or not will take a couple more releases to revaluate the performance at first opening. On my lower memory systems it's a surety that my multiple extensions are playing some part in that.

Seems like the bug was fixed in Vivaldi 2.5, there is no more delay in tab loading. But I believe you may be talking about some other bug.

I can't play any type of video/gif with Vivaldi 2.5.1525.48 (Stable channel) (64-bit) in MX Linux 18.3

i like it. It's very customizable, and features things like editable themes, integrated mouse gestures, and integrated per-site zoom. It's the most powerful and customizable chrome-based browser there is. That being said it is still based on chrome, so things like webrtc and inability to natively spoof the user agent might be an issue. Also, Vivaldi's menus does not honor the theme. There are more internal settings in firefox's about:config then there are in vivaldi's flags. I prefer firefox because I feel it's more secure. But vivaldi is a very nice chrome-based browser with a lot of polish and a lot to like.

Thanks for this. I will maybe try it in a VM. I recently went back to Firefox after I heard about Google nerfing the ad blocking in it's browser.

Just trying Vivaldi and really impressed! One thing I'm missing is the ability to see recent bookmarks listed. I like the bookmarks sorted alphabetically but want a separate list of recent ones. Anyway of doing this without using a Chrome extension?

Thanks for checking. The first one I couldn't play because I block auto-play. But the second one is still a mystery to me. I just noticed that I can also not play the video on Opera, but it does work in Chrome. Enabling the Widevine plugin didn't help. But I can play this video on the same site:

It's the best Chromium based browser when it comes to features. It is however a bit choppy, especially when you keep it in memory for a couple of hours. I don't know if it is because of the bloated Chromium framework, but from what I understood, other browsers (Opera and Edge) may run more smoothly.

    Yes, it's on.

Well, there you go, just tried and I also can't play them in Opera.

I've been using FF for the few occasions I need this function.

Isn't this weird? I can play the videos on Chrome and Firefox, but not on Opera and Vivaldi, even without any extensions, so I wonder what setting is causing this.

Question for Linux users with Vivaldi : Is there anyone NOT having problems playing videos?
