    I only knew about Mosaic. But you guys really should watch Valley of the Boom, I still can't believe that Netscape thought that it could compete with M$. And to be fair, IE really was better at some point, Netscape Navigator became too bloated.

    Microsoft did their best to kill off Netscape, to encourage the use of ActiveX controls, rather than Java apps, as unlike for Java, ActiveX controls only ran on Windows.

    Yes, but before all of that, they wanted to make a deal with Netscape. Perhaps they would have eventually bought them. It's pretty funny, then they would have never developed IE, and Mozilla was perhaps owned by M$.
