Former Youtube star Austin Jones has been sentenced to ten years in a US federal prison after pleading guilty to persuading underage girls to send him explicit videos of themselves.
Jones, who made a name for himself online singing covers of songs, was arrested and charged in 2017 with two counts of producing child pornography.

He later pled guilty to one charge of receiving child pornography — admitting in a plea agreement that in 2016 and 2017 he enticed six girls to to produce and send explicit videos to “prove” they were his “biggest fan”, per Buzzfeed.
In a 2015 apology vlog, after reports emerged of Jones asking young fans to send him twerking videos, he claimed it never went further than that. “There were never any nudes, never any physical contact, it never happened,” he said then.

But in his plea agreement Jones admitted to attempting to persuade more than thirty underage fans to send him explicit photos or videos.

The heated competition between two Bay Area school lunch companies allegedly took a criminal turn after authorities say a top executive at one company hacked into the other’s website in an attempt to expose flaws in online security.

Keith Wesley Cosbey, the chief financial officer of Choicelunch in Danville, was arrested in April on two felony counts related to illegal acquisition of student data on the website of The LunchMaster, a San Carlos company
If convicted of the charges — identity theft and unauthorized computer access — Cosbey, 40, would face more than three years in prison.

An Argentine man who advertised services to help lonely victims find love using witchcraft and spells before extorting them over sexually explicit videos was sentenced this week to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Boiteux was arrested by Paraguayan authorities while attempting to pick up a wire transfer for the images at a Western Union in Ciudad del Este, and he was extradited in 2018 to San Diego.
“This was a despicable scheme that preyed upon people who put their trust in a phony,” U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer said in a statement.

Europol has supported Spain in dismantling a criminal organisation providing large-scale crypto money laundering services to other criminal organisations.

The criminals carried out several money laundering schemes involving the transfer from fiat currency to virtual assets to hide the illegal origin of the proceeds. Some of the identified modi operandi used crypto ATMs and smurfing, a criminal method used to split illicit proceeds into smaller sums and placing these small amounts into the financial system to avoid suspicious transaction reporting.
The operation was a follow-up of operation Guatuzo also supported by Europol in which 23 people were arrested in summer 2018 in Spain and Colombia.

Brockton Man Pleads Guilty To Computer Fraud And Abuse

BOSTON – A Brockton man pleaded guilty today in federal court in Boston in connection with an August 2018 computer intrusion of a Massachusetts company.
Colby Anderson, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of intentionally causing damage to a protected computer without authorization. U.S. District Court Judge William G. Young scheduled sentencing for July 22, 2019. In October 2018, Anderson was arrested and charged by complaint; he was released on conditions.

Edward Soybel, a former computer technician for Lake Forest-based W.W. Grainger, was convicted by a federal jury in December of 12 counts of computer hacking. The 35-year-old Soybel of Chicago acted after the industrial supply company fired him in 2016 for “unprofessional conduct” and punctuality issues.

Soybel was awaiting trial when he shared a video online in which he threatened to shoot FBI agents, burn the houses of prosecution witnesses and kill the lead prosecutor.

Fujie Wang, 32, and other unnamed members of a China-based hacking group, are charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit fraud, identity theft and computer hacking.

The hackers are also accused of breaking into three other businesses — a tech company, a basic materials firm, and a communications giant — none of which were not named in the indictment.

EDWARD SOYBEL, 35, of Chicago, illegally accessed the servers of Lake Forest-based W.W. Grainger Inc., on multiple occasions in late 2016. Soybel intentionally caused damage to Grainger’s automated inventory management program, which operates on-site dispensing machines for customers throughout the United States. The dispensing machines provide secure access to durable products, such as safety equipment. Soybel had worked as a technical support contractor at Grainger’s facility in Niles until he was terminated in early 2016.

More than 41,000 computers were infected with the malware.

Amir Golestan of South Carolina is alleged to have tricked an organisation that controls some net addresses into handing them over.
In total, Mr Golestan won control of more than 750,000 addresses.

The US Department of Justice claims that Mr Golestan "fraudulently" won control of the net addresses by using many different shell companies.
It alleges that he created websites for fake companies and invented the names of the people who purportedly ran them as part of his scheme.

Mr Golestan sued when Arin refused to transfer control of the addresses. The day before the case went to court, Arin claims, Mr Golestan decided he would not testify and instead invoked the US Constitution's Fifth Amendment.

Cyber crime operations manager, acting commander Chris Goldsmid, described the alleged abuse of public office a very serious matter.
If found guilty, the man faces a maximum penalty of ten years imprisonment.
