Backup your settings, uninstall uBO and install the latest with backup.

FWIW, this method (clicking Update in Developer mode) does not force an update for me in Chrome. I try it multiple times and it does not change the version. It updates on its own for me.

    Hello @Page42

I too have experienced what you witnessed many times. Upon seeing this, I might remove and immediately reinstall to receive the updated extension. I usually will do this if the update involves a glaring security issue.

In defense of the author's distributor, without throttling the distributing server could be brought down due to sudden overload. In my defense, I do not want to be the victim of reverse engineered based attack. Am I wrong to act in a selfish manner? Perhaps. It's a gray area...

Doesn't that lose all your UBO settings?

Yes, but I don't have that many so it's not a problem for me like it may be for other folk.

Yes I know they are quite frequent but I don't get them automatically. Probably because when I empty my Sandboxed browser the update is gone :D

Or you could allow in Sandboxie; Rescource Access\File Access\Direct Access to UBO the following: "Google Chrome\Data\Profile\Default\Local Extension Settings\cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm\" Settings will be saved however a hole is opened in Sandboxie.(Using Chrome Portable version here)

As you say, it opens holes so I'll just keep doing what I'm doing :)

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions though :thumb:
