New Drive Snapshot build released.

It wasn't meant to show you the steps.
It was just to show you similar images when you make Windows 10 repair media.
Instead of the complete Windows 10, it's just the recovery part which I find nice and quick instead of booting up a Windows 10 complete disc.

That is a great WinPE. Very impressive. Mine boots with Secure Boot enabled in UEFI mode.

Does it boot in MBR mode, as mine wouldn't? (I used the MBR setting in Rufus for that one)

Edit... I made another MBR one. All OK.

I saw a few Defender warnings during the Rufus build and I deleted the quarantined malware later. This WinPE is excellent but I only used the "This PC" function. So it would be great for doing Snapshot restores.

 

In view of the Defender warnings I scanned the ISO and found it to contain 12 Trojans and Hack Tools. The ISO has been deleted and yesterday's backup image restored. The partition on the UFD has been deleted.

 

That is the whole reason I fell head over heels with it to begin with after finding it. I seem to always had to dinker with the BIOS switching to Legacy but with this one, it was UEFI compatible. Maybe I don't even need to change Secure Boot either now you mention it. It just became a routine for me to have spare some extra time/effort to make BIOS adjustments before.

I have not even tried MBR at all. All mine are UEFI. Happy to help and I certainly hope you find the rest of the programs on it of some good use for you as they been for me. I'm especially pleased with the Partition programs.

On the hack tools/Trojans the better part of me is been one of isolating anything noncrucial and removing it from the ISO. Since MajorGeeks has sponsored such apps, there's been no ill returns or effects found on this end of any consequence.

 

Anyone interested in DS differential backup images? You have to have #1358 working first as the diff batch file is based on #1358

 

It is actually safe. It is just that it uses some cracked programs. This often sets off AVs. Website. I see MajorGeeks also hosts it.
Here is the list of programs for the 64-bit version. I think it's a bit of overkill what I want it for though. A raw WinPE with just a file manager added would be great. Now, if I could only work out how to add it.

If you can't work it out you can fall back on TBWinRE with A56. My TBWinRE boots in 10 seconds.

 

Is that easy to add?
Also. A guy on this forum says that Explorer++ is a great file manager for WinPE, but he had a problem with it, but someone posted the solution.

 

Have a look at some WinPE builders here. Lazesoft looks OK.

 

Win10PE SE looks real good. I found the suggestion from somewhere else, and it is in active development.

Basically you only need a File Manager so use whichever PE is the easiest to create. Just using a Win10 UFD looks the easiest method of running snapshot64.exe. There is no setup to do.

 

It is "stuffed" without a doubt-But it's been a fast boot PE compared to some of my others. Thought it might be useful to suggest it.

As @Brian K suggested, for your current purposes a simple Win 10 PE with a good file manager is your ideal solution for expectations.

It's one ISO I intend to modify with my own updated licensed versions instead of programs listed as free versions but falling behind.

So far it's performed picture perfect on 8 with some of the basics often used on this end especially partition managers and DS which I managed to insert over the existing one included. This is a monumental task when you haven't broken down an ISO in years but pretty gratifying knowing if you get a couple of them in working order, there's time later for others.

In spite of the fact I already have a Win 10 PE with both Reflect and DS on it, I was struck to find this one loads faster. And it carries way more apps than my used-to-be go-to PE.

 

So, I can use a PE or RE.

Yes, you can make an ISO or a CD.
The ISO is around 500 MB.

 

I'm doing it now.
I have added an Explorer++ and a FreeCommander menu.
See how it goes. I used Method 2.

 

You could probable add snapshot64.exe to the Launcher menu and you would not need the File Managers. I can't recall if I've tried this.

Edit... It does work. I can run snapshot64.exe directly from TBLauncher menu.
