"Survey: Americans Spend Nearly Half Their Waking Hours Looking At Screens

Researchers calculate the average adult logs 6 hours, 43 minutes of total screen time daily — or 7,956 days over a typical lifespan!

More specifically, the survey found that 42% of the time Americans are awake, their eyes are fixated on a television, smartphone, computer, tablet, or other device..."

Increase that if you work in IT. I probably spend 10 or more. It will stop when I go blind from the exposure.

I'm betting most of the developed world spends half their waking hours staring at screens. Not sure what the undeveloped world stares at.

"WHO recommends one-hour maximum screen time per day for under-5s

GENEVA, April 24 (Reuters) - Children aged two to four should not be allowed more than one hour of "sedentary screen time" per day and infants less than one year old should not be exposed to electronic screens at all, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday..."

I don't think anyone under 5 should be looking at screens at all. But nobody asked what I thought so... Kids should be kids. I miss the 70's.

"Apple Cracks Down on Apps That Fight iPhone Addiction...

Over the past year, Apple has removed or restricted at least 11 of the 17 most downloaded screen-time and parental-control apps, according to an analysis by The New York Times and Sensor Tower, an app-data firm. Apple has also clamped down on a number of lesser-known apps.

In some cases, Apple forced companies to remove features that allowed parents to control their children’s devices or that blocked children’s access to certain apps and adult content. In other cases, it simply pulled the apps from its App Store...

Some app makers with thousands of paying customers have shut down. Most others say their futures are in jeopardy..."

Apple are a set of ****** for doing that ! What were they thinking ?

Another company gone bad ! Not many good ones left.

Regarding time spent. It depends what we're doing. If it's looking/listening to crap etc, like a Lot of people do, then more fool them. Unfortunately, it's not just teenagers etc that waste a LOT of time every day like that, & on their phones too. SAD !

I probably spend about 10 to 12 hours a day behind desktop computer and TV. Both for work and play, so no complaints, it's fun to me. Luckily I almost never use my smartphone.

I have been trying to adopt digital minimalism for a while now but looking at screens seem to "spark joy" for me more than looking at blank space.

Sad but true. I only need to sit in town a short time to see so many are walking around, even crossing roads, with their eyes glued to their screens. It's illegal here to touch a phone while driving but it doesn't stop them. So many people driving with their phone stuck to their ear, or worse, texting while driving.

"Horns are growing on young people’s skulls. Phone use is to blame, research suggests...

New research in biomechanics suggests that young people are developing hornlike spikes at the back of their skulls — bone spurs caused by the forward tilt of the head, which shifts weight from the spine to the muscles at the back of the head, causing bone growth in the connecting tendons and ligaments. The weight transfer that causes the buildup can be compared to the way the skin thickens into a callus as a response to pressure or abrasion.

The result is a hook or hornlike feature jutting out from the skull, just above the neck...

In academic papers, a pair of researchers at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, argues that the prevalence of the bone growth in younger adults points to shifting body posture brought about by the use of modern technology. They say smartphones and other handheld devices are contorting the human form, requiring users to bend their heads forward to make sense of what’s happening on the miniature screens.

The researchers said their discovery marks the first documentation of a physiological or skeletal adaptation to the penetration of advanced technology into everyday life..."

"Hunched backs and double eyelids: How tech-obsessed humans might look in 2100
scientists have imagined how humans may look in the future
    – and it’s not pretty.

Experts have examined the way technology will affect the human form, suggesting the body may change dramatically.

Creating a 3D model of a future human called “Mindy”, scientists said people living in 2100 may have hunched backs from hours of sitting over computers and looking at smartphones.

Mindy also has bigger neck muscles to compensate for her poor posture, a thicker skull to protect from radiation and a smaller brain that has shrunk from leading a largely sedentary lifestyle.

Humans in fewer than 100 years may also have claw-like hands from gripping their phones..."

So this is the explanation of the werewolves, just time travellers who abused their tech so much that they were afflicted by Uber-laziness... they eat raw meat (no time to cook, hence the sharp teeth), don't shave (hence the fur), and smell like wet dogs (no shower). Thank you Science, you have an answer to everything!

    Internet never lie :D

"‘Zombie Eating’: 88% Of Adults Dine While Staring At A Screen, Survey Finds...

...[A] new survey of 2,000 adults has found that a whopping 88% are so-called “zombie eaters” who stare at some type of screen while eating.

The survey, commissioned by Pretzel Crisps, aimed to shed some light on American eating habits. The results indicate that Americans are so glued to their screens, they rarely stop staring even to eat. In fact, the average U.S. eater will stare at their phone twice over the course of any given meal, and will only have five screen-free meals per week..."

"Six-year-old South Korean YouTube star with 30 million subscribers has purchased a multimillion dollar, five-story property in Seoul.

Boram bought the 9.5 billion Korean won ($8 million) building in the trendy Seoul suburb of Gangnam earlier this year, through the Boram Family company, which was set up by the YouTuber's parents, according to a public real estate registration document.

Boram has two popular YouTube accounts on which she posts content: a toy review channel with 13.6 million subscribers and a video blog account with 17.6 million subscribers.

In one of her most popular clips, which attracted over 376 million views, Boram makes instant noodles using a plastic toy kitchen and then enthusiastically slurps them down on camera..."
