Sandboxie is a niche product for niche market of niche users, I bet the consumers user-base can't even pay the development.

That's why they removed Lifetime licenses.

Slow as molasses in January, but I was able to connect twice moments ago, including the purchase link within the Home page.

    Hi all,

We apologize for the inconveniences. We are currently experiencing server issues that affect activations and license creation.
We are working on updating our systems and we will reach back to affected customers to provide the licenses once the servers are available.

If you have recently purchased Sandboxie and have not received your license key, please email us at support@sandboxie.com so that we can correct the issue once our servers are back up.

    Thank you for your understanding!
    Sandboxie Support.-

Anyone of us could have stated that Sandboxie was experiencing issues that affect activations and license creations.

A straightforward, non-evasive response would have addressed the reason why they are updating their systems. Was there nefarious activity that caused these issues? That would be most helpful.

As it stands, they are officially telling us it is cloudy when we already know it is raining.

I'm also a little skeptical but appreciate the info from Support. It's going on day 4 with no support or update access. :cautious:

Thanks for the info on alternative (Sophos version), Space Ghost and deugniet. :)

    Why would anyone be surprised?
    Garbage since Invincea took over.
I have a life time license, they couldn't solve the DDE issue. Support wouldn't even try!
Left it back a few years ago.
Glad to see the demise. RIP.

To many of us, Tzuk was kind of like a hero. But I am not blind and he wasn't either. He knew he couldn't continue developing Sandboxie by himself, alone. Windows is getting more and more complicated as years go by, that made it impossible for him to continue developing Sandboxie by himself. Sandboxie needed a team of developers to develop Sandboxie. So, he looked for the best people to continue his work, and he found them.....in Invincea.

And when I say he found it in Invincea, I mean it. Enthusiasm is the most important trait, in anything we do. You can be a rookie, a beginner in anything that you do, but if you are enthused on what you are doing, very quickly you ll become better and more productive than the veterans, than the ones that think that they know all.

The enthusiasm that Curt has for Sandboxie is immense. Every time that we talk in conversations, I feel it in his words. His messages are soaked with enthusiasm for Sandboxie and his work. And I know, the rest of the team behind Sandboxie feels the same way. I talked to a couple of other developers, and is there. I smell it and feel it. As long as this continues to be so, and Sophos dont become short sighted, we ll continue to have Sandboxie for a long time.

The DDE issue has been around for a long time. Tzuk himself had a problem with that also. Nothing new.

Doesn't truly deserve a response, other than to say your sentiments are not widespread.

The guy at reddit is wrong. When you set Sandboxie updates to Never check for updates by clicking "Never", setting "SbieCtrl_NextUpdateCheck=1555555555" is written in our User settings. You can see it in your config file, no need to go though hoops as he describes to see the setting. Never in Sandboxie doesn't mean Never, "SbieCtrl_NextUpdateCheck=1555555555" means Sandboxie is set to check for updates 10 years from now.

In my W10, I have "SbieCtrl_NextUpdateCheck=1556329954", so, it doesn't surprise me you dont have 1555555555. But, thats the number we are supposed to get when we click Never. There is a lot to read about that setting at the SBIE forum, but of course, we cant search for it right this moment because the site is down. I read those threads about that setting before. The numbers mean a particular date, and when we click Never, it means you are setting SBIE to check for updates in 10 years. Its been a while since I read those threads but thats how I remember what I read about that setting.

Can you show us documentation to support that statement. The shame is silly statements.

I may have changed frequency to 'NextWeek' when I had recent odd 'Check For Updates' dialog popups.
    Thanks

Well I should think a prominent firm like Sophos would make an official announcement, as Peter2150 said. I guess details take some time to iron out IF Sandboxie is indeed end-of-life. Going on five days now, it's not just maintenance obviously. For once, I'd like to be wrong. Just this one time.
