Likewise, I get this just now, to check out the above observations. What's up, Sbie?

Hi Page, I don't remember ever reading about the site been hacked or attacked by malware but I remember years ago (about 7 years ago), the site had a big problem with spammers that would come to the forum and load the site with spam posts. I dont remember how that was solved but it was effectively solved as we now hardly ever see any spam.

FWIW, today I haven't been able to open any Sandboxie site webpages. Yesterday, as I posted here, I was able to open (slowly) sandboxie.com webpages but cant now. So, whatever the problem is, it continues.

Now, being Easter weekend is kind of messy for the site. More than likely the problem will continue during the weekend, unless someone is actually working at the site now. But more than likely, people are in vacation.

Personally, I haven't had any of this update message issue in my W10 (using latest beta on that computer). Yesterday, when I started my W7 (it was like a month last time I had started it), I realized I have version 5.28 in it. I did get one update message, clicked Next week, and didnt get to see another message. I don't know why I got to see that message as I had never seen it before. Anyway, before turning off the W7, I changed the Update setting to Never and as far as I can tell, it worked well, as afterward, it shows what is supposed to how in my Sandboxie config file. I didn't see any SBIE update message after changing that setting to how I thought I had it.

One thing I am glad I didnt try is to update SBIE to the latest beta as very likely, I would have ended up with the free version in the W7 if I had tried it, as the Sandboxie server more than likely would not have been able to be reached to activate the license. Right now, definitively, is not a good moment to update SBIE. Is better to stay put until the issue is fixed.

My friend, its always a pleasure to say Hello, to you. Best regards

    Bo

No, only Free YouTube - dvdvideosoft.com seemed to work for me...albeit, too slow to be practical.
Videoder was just a blank window.

Real cause or a convenient excuse? Hard to say. But this sort of downtime for a security company never looks good. My opinion.

The site is still down, it seems, going on 25 + hours. Still get "check for updates" with the "error occurred" message. A odd time to choose to perform maintenance as mood indicated, if this an intentional shutdown. I've never seen a site down longer than an hour maybe? The site, you can ping it--from here is avg. of 39 msec. I'm curious what the explanation will be. :)

Yes, it doesn't look good. But, we ought to realize that if the people who oversee the site are gone, perhaps out of town, they are gone and nothing will be done for now :). I am familiar with what goes on at the SBIE forum during weekends, so, it doesn't surprise me not to see things being back to normal yet.

A site being down for days without explanation is not a good sign. I expect this to become abandonware before long. If it does I'll uninstall it and feel that over the years I got my money's worth out of it.

Time will tell sooner or later. We'll continue to use it so long as it performs to expectations as it has to date.

That would explain what is happening. I'm sure we'll find out sooner than later if that is the end of it.

Actually it explains nothing. They did shut down Invincea, but Sandboxie continued to be supported. I doubt a company the caliber of Sophos, would terminate support of Sandboxie in this manner.

Obviously there is a problem. Best to wait and see rather then needless speculation.

no word about sandboxie, which is ofc not really an invicea product.
    a) they make sandboxie paid complete free of charge - maybe perpetual "beta" as MBAE.
    b) they keep activation servers.
    c) they sell sandboxie again

Yes, very hush-hush. Sophos' Sandboxie page says nothing out of the ordinary at this time. What if people want to purchase subscriptions; this is costing Sandboxie. The Windows v. 1903 will have a sandbox utility, right? The debut for us millions upon millions of regular Windows 10 users is just a few weeks away, go figure.

Still hoping this will be business as usual shortly....

I think Sophos is using Sandboxie as a core of Sophos Sandstorm.
