Just ran across the SUBJECT TOOL and was reading some of its claims. The one that jumped out at me was the following... Recover permanently deleted (shift + delete) files from SSD Often, important files get accidentally shift-deleted from SSD disks. In that case, users should take help of SSD Data Recovery Software. It can retrieve shift deleted files and folders from both FAT and NTFS type SSD drive without a short time. Download the software and recover permanently deleted files from solid state drive easily. Whoa! Other than a non-TRIM enabled OS (XP), how is this possible (thinking I understand how TRIM actually works)? Well, I trimmed my OS System SSD partition (NTFS), copied a known file into the empty "Downloads" folder, used a <shift-DELETE> operation to permanently delete it (which definitely causes the SSD-enabled OS to TRIM that SSD DATA at its earliest convenience) then ran the above application. As expected, nothing was found. How does an application like this make such a claim? Has anyone ever used this app and recovered permanently deleted DATA from an SSD? I don't wanna use the word fraud here, but that claim is a bit wild to me, especially knowing that when DATA is TRIMmed on an SSD, that DATA is either ZEROed, ONEed or RANDOMIZED by the SSD controller itself based on known specifications. I'm sure it works fine on HDDs (not wasting my time to test it on them, they have a separate recovery tool for that).
They did not use the words "all" or "internal" so they are covered. Also if you read the eula, you'll see that they were covered even if they claimed 100% recovery guarantee on every drive. Panagiotis
In short and in straight talk- You take a chance on what we claim our tool can do with this particular type of hardware (SSD) and the consequences that result. Yep that covers it alright.
What is CYA and COA? @EASTER Eula's like the above are pretty common especially on recovery software e.g.Rollaback RX has a similar one. All of them say that their only guarantee is that if the software does not work as intended they'll reimborse you the paid license in a given period of time from the purchase. And since they are offered as trials or demos (you can test them before purchasing) even a reimborse is often difficult to achieve. Panagiotis
COA = Certficate of Authenticity (very common with computers as far as licensing is concerned) CYA = Cover Your A-- (used by most any non-ethical company in protecting themselves through licensing terms)
There is a similarity between these developers and the Rollback Drive Cloner developers. Neither app lived up to the promises.
Yeah software outfits are also much more conscious anymore of potential liability from their products to cover themselves front and back since these days it's easy for them to get dragged through litigation that could potentially erase them from the market they try to grow in.
...and Drive Cloner RX appears to be abandonware at this point in time based on their Forums. Brian... did we ever think it would be anything more than that ?
