As by title, today Tumblr doesn't work in Opera 12.18; I didn't find any suggestion in Google. Someone can help me ? Please, don't post " Change browser " or " Why do you use an obsolete browser ? ": I'm perfectly able to choose another browser and actually Opera 12 is not the only one, but it's not the topic of this thread.
I open Tumblr home page, but all my Tumblr links - landscapes and animal photos - open only a blue page.
Well, I'm sorry to say but you really shouldn't open these kinds of topic, because you already know the answer. A whole of sites don't work on Opera 12 anymore, because the engine is outdated and doesn't support new web technologies like HTML 5. In other words, you can only accept this and move on to some other browser like Vivaldi, that's what I did.
Thank you, I feared this, but I hoped there was some tricks ! I already installed Vivaldi, but it's not the same thing ! And I can't resize the icons in speed dial. No one browser has the same speed dial than old Opera !
@blacknight the closest you can get is falkon browser. give its portable version a try, you won't regret it. https://www.falkon.org/download/
np as for the security, can't say that it's as good as google chrome or ff, but it sure is a million miles more secure than opera 12.
I tried custom.css in user profile but could not get it to work. However you can try this: Do not limit the number of columns: Rescale the user interface to get smaller thumbnails: Zoomed: Normal: Zoom here:
Additional suggestion: My preference is to disable speed dial completely and instead use the bookmarks toolbar. Show/ Hide via [Ctrl+SHIFT+B] You can have a few favorite individual sites bookmarked there along with additional folders containing other bookmarks. Bookmarks Bar can show both folders and individual sites. You could create a folder named "Speed Dial" just for top sites and bookmark them in that folder. If you set home page to your preferred site you can use F8 after Vivaldi launch to switch focus to the address bar. From there you just start typing the name of any bookmark and it will auto-complete. Then press enter.
@Callender: thanks a lot ! very clear and useful ! Your first tip works fine ! And your second suggestion too it's useful. This make Vivaldi more like my old Opera.
For what it's worth, I have just stopped using Opera 12 completely, since ad.nl doesn't work correctly anymore. Thanks for everything Opera Presto and RIP.
Still using it. It's role has shifted a bit but it still works well in a lot places and it's incompatibilities are even useful at times. The code that fails is often the code I wouldn't want to run in the first place in this world of overcoded web bloat. I use user/author mode all the time to cut out the surrounding bloat and get to the few paragraphs of text I want to read. And my somewhat rare excursions into Wilders these days are done with Opera 12 which is still completely compatible with Wilders.
Well, I only used it for ad.nl (Dutch newspaper), but some moron decided to change some HTML or JavaScript code, so that was the end for me. I now only use Vivaldi, why don't you give it a try? It does sometimes feels a bit sluggish, that's my only complaint. But I'm not sure if it's caused by Sandboxie or a couple of extensions that I'm using. But other than this it's pretty cool, a worthy successor of Opera 12.
I do use Vivaldi as well as Chromium, Chrome, Firefox, Seamonkey and the new Opera. None of them do what Opera 12 does. There isn't any one browser these days that can cover the whole web and its best to compartmentalize web browsing for a variety of reasons.
The problem is that Vivaldi is based on Chromium. It would have been cool if Opera sold Presto to Vivaldi. Opera 12 was extremely light and snappy. But when it comes to features, Vivaldi is on par with Opera 12. I don't really miss that much, except for the "fit to width" feature and easy way to delete specific cookies.
BTW, I forgot to mention that it's actually quite easy to delete cookies via Chromium based browsers, you can do it via the "Site info" button in the address-bar.
I don't believe that God give sign for this . For me, it simply was a sign that was the moment to say good bye to old Opera. Now quite happy with new Opera.
