Thanks @mood in keeping us diehards fully engaged what they offer with these updates. So far so good on 8.1.
Humming like a well oiled machine with zero issue or burps as usual. So happy to be free of 10 for good.

    - Windows Update offered my Win7 system yesterday first (what I would call) a "general" security update and then the update for the SSU before I was offered the Monthly Rollup Update.
    - I Always download each of the individual updates before installing them. It allows me to update/patch up my system after a re-install of Win7 and before I make connection with the internet. That way I have to worry less about being infected.

If you do a clean install of Windows and then run Windows Update right away, then the chance of getting infected, in my opinion would be so close to zero, that it's not worth taking the time to manually download and install patches. It's much easier just to run Windows Update.

And why should it be going anywhere? It does everything, no fuss, no headache.

I'm keeping Win7 on this PC until it dies! :isay:

Unfortunately, my wife's Win7 laptop died, and we dived right into a Win10 laptop, so far without any issues. :)

Me too. Laptop is just six years old, brand new in my book. Windows10 runs also on it just fine.
XP laptop is a 15 year old firebreathing hyperthreading 1Gig RAM box and chugging along just fine. Except SeaMonkey on Wilders is a tad slow.

You gotta admire all the Windows 7 users who obviously know a durable productive O/S when they use one.

Windows 8.1 is also percolating along very nicely on this end too.

The Win 10 is in a reserve position just in case.
