Rufus hosed my flashdrive

    Tried making a bootable flashdrive (1.8GB) using rufus 3.X and it failed w/error re: Windows Explorer was "using the drive". Now I've tried formatting the drive but Windows 7 doesn't recognize it or Formatting gives error 'Windows can't format drive' check it's connected or read help files.

    Anyone have any tips on how I can overcome this and get on w/creating my Hiren's 15 bootable thumbdrive?

    USA still the best. But barely.
    Try it again disconnected from the net & all security software disabled.

    Strange you mention this. Same thing happened to me 4 weeks ago....

    I had to use Winpese on a USB, thus going outside of windows, and use the disk management / partition tool to fix the broken USB.
