"Windows Update problems: Fixed now but every OS after Win 7 is what went wrong, says Microsoft."

    Fixed that! ;)

I'm so glad I waved Windows and Microsoft goodbye. :thumb:

Wasn't the issue also reported on some Linux systems?

    https://news.softpedia.com/news/mic...-fix-possibly-rolled-out-quietly-524786.shtml
"Oddly enough, some tried to install other operating systems, like Linux Mint and Ubuntu, only to discover that they were experiencing update issues as well, which once again potentially signals a network issue caused by the ISP and not by Microsoft’s servers."

Probably, but AFAIK it didn't affect me on Ubuntu (14.04, 16.04), macOS, Chrome OS or Android. I started this thread way back principally because virtually all MS updates were problematical in some way. I have run Ubuntu continuously for over five years and have never experienced problems like I did with MS. I now live in a Microsoft-free environment and am enjoying every second of it.

Also it was never fully explained what was the problem at the ISP level? It appears the problem only manifested in select ISP networks. Was there a Internet backbone attack that is being hushed up?

Hmm, these updates came a little early today. At any rate, cumulative, flash, .NET framework and malicious software removal tool installed like clockwork.

    Well that's interesting:

    upload_2019-2-12_20-46-30.png

An improvement from what was showed in 1803, a bunch of digits. This happens when I open settings -> personalization -> themes, but it didn't happen after the clean install, only after I ran my bat with tweaks, which is huge, even bigger than tairiku okami's. So it must be from one of those things. Also, I've noticed a new process running: C:\Windows\System32\CompPkgSrv.exe , and there's 0 info out there about what it's for, probably a new task from 1809, as I just clean installed 1809 and that wasn't there in 1803. Updated to .316 a few mins ago, so far no issues :D Clean installing windows is like showering, feels so good. This time I decided not to **** up all apps beyond repair, only partially. Also, seems like I had ** up my ClearType text and then forgot about it, cuz now the font is much better on many places, smaller and more precise

All 4 of my Windows 10 machines updated smoothly and quickly this morning, however the Zbook 15v just had a blue screen with the details SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. No idea what that means. The only app I had open at the time was Outlook.

Same here, all Win 10 updates installed flawlessly. It seems that the two time needed installation of cumulative updates has been finally resolved.

On my 6 year old desktop 1809 updated perfectly as usual, been a very long time since I've had a wonky update.

    v1803 updated to build 17134.590 on 3 laptops.via Cumulative Update KB4487017.

When will MS be confident enough to push v1809 to those who do not explicitly check for updates? The next version is already due in April ... ?

I normally upgrade asap, but I had problems with v1809 so I'd prefer to wait till MS push it.

Don't update, do clean installs, sure it is more time consuming but you will end with lighter, cleaner, safer and less buggy system.

Same here, I tried once, compared to clean install, it took so long, ate lot of disk space and broke some softs.
    Never tried again...
Sad part, I saw these issues on many customers/friends system.

Yeah MS coding is awesome...

I have no doubt you are right, but it would still be a last resort for me, as I have many apps and customisations, and I'm too lazy to do that with each feature update :isay:.

And bear the consequences ....

I couldn't agree more. My current OS was started over 6 years ago with Win8. It has been continually updated ever since and is now Win10 1809. I have a fresh Win10 1809 install on the same drive and it doesn't run any faster than my 6 year old OS.
