I did a clean install of 1809 a few weeks ago and it's been working flawlessly for me.

Windows 10 Pro is free, open cmd on brand new installation and type:

    slmgr /ipk W269N-WFGWX-YVC9B-4J6C9-T83GX
    slmgr /skms kms8.msguides.com
    slmgr /ato

Completely legit way to activate windows, using microsoft's kms https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/kmsclientkeys

Given that a bad update is usually seen within 48 hours, or sooner, it's better than nothing. ;) :)

It's good to have this info, but why would they charge about $100 to upgrade?

They're not charging anything, you can activate it for free, as shown above :D

You have to pay $100 to legally upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

I respectfully disagree with the author. What killer features is he expecting at this point? The revolutions happened earlier, eg Windows 3.0, Windows 95, Xp and 7, and now the OS is more mature. In fact I wish Microsoft would stop trying to add features to Windows 10 that require major OS updates with all the risks and inconvenience that entails. Microsoft used to have some nice apps for people who wanted to add features, such as Digital Image Pro and Streets & Trips; I feel that was a better option :)

I finally upgraded Windows 10 to Build 1809 - Results

Newer is always better. Or is it? Here's a thorough review of Windows 10 version 1809, including long upgrade process, unwanted changes to user settings, new features and options like security, search, regedit, kiosk, and dark theme, other observations, and more. Have fun.
