One issue I experienced was that I needed to manually finish 7-zip update process cause Heimdal for some reason couldn't. But don't recall anything major. Why would updating softwares cause trouble?
I don't like things updating automatically as the changes made during a patch may effect the relationship that a software might have to another, detrimentally and without you being aware of it. I dont like anything too intrusive. If I remember correctly Windooms updates and patches have caused plenty of problems over the years. Many upgrades end up being downgrades or at least imposing something that you might not want.
