Customer does have a choice of this or direct telephone communication but not email. @mirimir- That is one format which is a fact. There are likely others
For those worried about this and other issues with timing of keystrokes etc, you are in fact better off preparing snippets in a notepad and just doing copy and paste when you are ready. Of course, that's unusual, but probably not uniquely unusual! If you're really worried, put the snippet through a little chain of translations.
Many years ago when new forum software came out I realized when you type up a message it started saving as you went. Same thing there. They grab all your info before you are even done. This might even happen here.
If you abandon a post on Wilders, the state does get saved. But I'm pretty sure that it's saved locally. In a cookie, I'm guessing. Or I would hope. Perhaps a mod or admin could comment.
This sounds old fashion of me to say, but it's proven true for this user anyway. Life with internet and pages format was so much simpler and a whole lot less jumpy back in the Windows 98 days. All the set up to try to run ahead of users is fell flat and is a horrible disruption-intentionally made so on mainstream sites just for the purpose of tracking, throwing silly ads video/audio on top of websites, totally gummed up and frantic looking crap anymore. This forum and a rare few others are exceptions so far. Especially Wilder's for me. Loads clean and free of the interruptions that have taken over many others, and that does mean security sites which once frowned on resorting to certain practices that today they have been sucked into the vacuum of the distortion abyss. OK, so this is a test. I'm shutting down Firefox now. And not explicitly saving. ... And damn, that was still here. After rebooting the VM. So Wilders must be saving drafts on its server(s). I really don't have a problem with that. I occasionally see a "saving draft" message. Not consistently, but I've seen it enough times to know that it's happening. And it's arguably more of a feature than a bug, in that I hate losing draft posts when stuff crashes. But I checked account preferences, and don't see it mentioned. I'm guessing that it's part of "Use the rich text editor to create and edit messages". I could test that, but it doesn't bother me enough. I mean, this is all about stuff that I intend to be public. But arguably, it ought to be explicitly disclosed, and optional.
Yes, it is. But you can disable the rich text editor and the draft feature is gone. Or you can leave the rich text editor enabled and with uBlockO the specific behind-the-scene request which is responsible for saving of a draft (you're gonna see the request in the logger after a click on "save draft") can be blocked. Or in general prepare your messages in notepad but this has already been mentioned #4
I think sometimes the server-based rich text editor is needed for things like spell checking. If you tried to do that locally (at the browser end), you'd be reliant on downloading the locale-dependent dictionary to the browser, which would get silly. Since people want live spell-checking, what alternative is there?
Wait. The support thing, is it only on the specific browser window you're typing? I can't see a problem with that. You're chatting with a stranger and asking for help, why is it a problem that they see you typing "hey I need help with this and that". And here on Wilders or any website that saves drafts of what we're typing, the same thing. It's not like we're typing our CC info or anything, why would it be a problem to save things you already want other to see anyway?
From aspect of privacy it would be better if they saw your question after you hit send button or Enter and not while you were typing. You might change your mind before posting a question and it's also probably little creepy if you get your answer before you finished posting a question.
