I used this program way back when and then when 8 first came out with Tiles & Store it was by far and away the 0NLY utility to accurately RESET the store etc. And what an error driven ordeal it became without Tweaking.com Windows Repair.

Recently it reset all permissions (some got in a jam) on Windows 8.1 and man is it ever Quick!!

With the latest Windows 10 there was some different weirdness happenings going on with that one and so put this Utility right on it.

It's a very welcome relief and many many thanks go out to it's developer. Long ago I was a forum member over there. Wouldn't have believed after all this time how many followers, users, and customers this developer has drawn to this incredible app.

I ran this program today and it completely crippled all of my security programs + Windows Live Mail. I didn't check anything else before I restored an image backup. I won't be installing and / or running it again any time soon.

Was there a specific reason why you ran it Krusty?

Did you run it in Safe Mode?

I was having issues with my VPN and I've been getting a message from Windows saying there was something wrong with my account, even though I only sign into Windows with a local account. I need to go to Settings > System > Shared Experiences and sign into my Outlook account.
    Yep, sure did.

It's highly unusual that this should have happened, as in theory none of the repairs should damage anything. The worst I've had happen was that at one point a few years ago, after running the repairs, Sleipnir, the browser I was using at the time would no longer work.

It sounds like you're not going to use it again anytime soon and you've already restored from an image, but it creates a registry backup before running the repairs, which can be restored from the Recovery Console when booting from a Windows ISO or Recovery Drive.

I don't have Shared Experiences turned on Krusty and like you I only have a local account (I don't sign into Windows either)

Like roger, I have never had the type of experience that you have had after using Tweaking.

That's the strange thing, stapp. I have it disabled on all my machines too but regularly get an error message about it on this one machine.

I've used Windows Repair several times in the past too, it was me who started this thread, but that's the first time I've seen anything like that happen. Thank goodness for Macrium Reflect!

I would report the issue or experience you had with Shane over at Tweaking.com but here is my take on why not only this program. but I fear other programs are running into some unusual similar issues lately. With Windows 10 borking-choking at these once reliable system repair tools and the like, it signals (to me anyway), them taking a page from the Apple playbook that has drawn criticism of late. Microsoft obviously isn't likely to publicize it's experimentation with testing these new releases in order to see what they can affect to third party (non-security) tools and the like which user's normally found safe to turn to when trying to correct something on Win 10.

    From Global Mod Boggin-November 17, 2018
Don't know if that's over speculation or not but think that it does warrant some careful attention going forward. Many software vendors after all pay a fee to them for their programs to carry out what they were designed to do without issue or intentional harm.

Likewise Yes, thank the lucky stars Macrium to the rescue yet again.

Nice. And what an endless dedication to refining the best in it.

Very vital app in those times of complete or even partial collapse of Window's surprise issues that this program resets again so accurately.
