No longer used MS Office. I used Libre Office since 2014 on Windows 8 and 10 before. Then switched to Linux last year and Libre Office comes out of the box. Happy with the program so far.

As with most software, you have to go though Options and lean things down if you want it to run smooth. Seems like the newer the software the more you need to do this. The less it communicates with the mothership, the better I like it. Even if that means not using the lastest version.

Disable any unnecessary Add-ins, go to the Windows Task Scheduler and disable Office scheduled tasks that are not needed that you probably didn't even know you had.

Using this old laptop with a T4300 my memory use only goes up 2% when I open a Word file in Office 2013 and cpu use virtually unchanged. Opening Solitaire hits harder, up 3%, lol.

    Hi noway

Any specific tips on what addons/options you tweaked how, for Office 2013 (is it 2013 Prof Plus?) ?

    Thanks
    Ska

    Hi Ska,

It's 2013 Professional Plus. Such a huge topic optimizing this. Settings are different for everyone depending on their needs and what may work for me might break something you need. Try the 2 suggestions in my middle paragraph "Disable any unnecessary..." and search Google for: faster office 2013

    Good!

I wonder what happened with Brazil's claim about this.
